Troy Just sent an email stating that all orders will be given a 25% coupon and charged. I canceled my order. The email I got addressed uppers only. Same here....Im not sure if I should cancel seeing I ordered a rail and not an upper. My invoice still has the same price.....I'm not sure what I want to do yet Same here. All I ordered was a rail and it's still showing the same price as when I ordered it. I'm starting to think they're only worried about people who ordered uppers, but I donno. You have got to be the most optimistic s.o.b. I've ever encountered. hahaha I guess I keep telling myself they'll honor at least people who just bought rails and misc parts. You know, do something right... |

Am I reading the Facebook Postings right...
The only way to cancel an existing order is to call or send a "please cancel" email to the sales staff? The man hours that Troy's going to lose on clearing out orders, manning phones and returning emails is going to be unreal. No offense to the offical "tech support" rep here on AR15.com...but Troy really needs to get their website act together. You should have a "Cancel Order" button and obviously the code stacking issue should have never been an issue. Wes |

I think the vast majority of people are ok with Troy cancelling the orders if they really don't want to sell at that price. I'm really struggling to comprehend why they would just reissue a higher invoice and automatically charge people more rather that just cancel. The only motivation can be the idea that perhaps some people won't catch on and will accidentally pay the high price. No hard feelings about the renege (everyone makes mistakes) but would like an explanation of why not just a simple cancellation. If someone then really wants to pay the high price it's a simple thing for them to do and I doubt there would be any takers anyway.

View Quote Agreed...A simple blanket cancellation and then tell people to email with orders they wish to complete at the "proper" price points would probably be more customer friendly and man hour management friendly way of dealing with orders. Another thought that crossed my mind...The email could be a bluff of sorts. I say this because Troy's terms and conditions may not have been clear enough to cancel orders or justify up charging to the "proper" pricing because there wasn't a pricing issue, rather a coupon issue...so they maybe banking on people requesting a cancellation by saying we are going to complete your order at a higher price if you don't request to cancel, all the while they maybe planning to honor pricing where customers demand fulfillment at the prices during checkout. People are pissed because they found a loop-hole on troys website for stacking. I get it and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out they won't honor orders with all the coupon staking. Not sticking up for Troy but come on. I looked at their prices on their website and even with 25% off it still not a great deal. Who cares they give you one battle mag an order. Most people have more mags than they know what to do with. Instead of charging MSRP on all your products on your site how about cutting prices down and then give people 25% off. Mags for 15.00 ea when I've seen them for under $10 sometimes. Rear folding sights for $119.00 when another vendor has them for $75.00. Where's the saving? I get it but why throw a sale when it's not really a good price to begin with.

View Quote It's interesting that you say that because I started out completely on one side of the spectrum - this is a mistake and there is no way it will ever be honoured. Then I started looking at the products (including the upper) and realizing that most of it was obsolete/out of date stock that is worth very little considering the damage the brand has sustained over the last couple of years. I ended up at the other end of the spectrum where this was actually a good deal for Troy at the discounted prices and surprised they didn't do it. At the end of day, they are delusional about the "value" that their brand (which is severely damaged) adds to otherwise uncompelling products. |
|
People want to hurt their business just everyone cancel your order. To me that's proof enough if 2000 orders were placed and all 2000 cancel than what does it say about your business practices. I don't own any Troy products because I think you can find other products out there that are just as good or better at a lower cost even with a 25% off sale.

Had the deal not gone viral on ARFCOM, anyone who casually peruse their site would figure that out. Coupon stacking is not uncommon on sites. I think Troy knew exactly what's happening the moment orders started pouring in. Someone would have been looking at those transactions and will IMMEDIATELY see these multi-discounts. What no one talks about are the amount of new site registrations their site garnered during this melee. I can only imagine it to be a LOT - enough to bring their site down several times over the weekend. |

Did not realize that the site crashing multiple times was because of the coupons spurring traffic or B. Did know about the issue but were too lazy/incompetent to fix it? |

They chose to let this go on for 24+ hours and take no action until only god knows how many orders had gone through using multiple coupon codes. I get that you're obviously a Troy fan boy, but you're looking silly now. |

Dear Valued Troy Customer,
Thank you for your recent order on troyind.com. We appreciate your patronage and hope you and yours enjoyed your Independence Day. The email notice you received this weekend after your order was placed was an auto message from our system alerting us to which products you wish to receive. When our sales associates process your order this week, you will receive a final invoice. They will add a free BattleMag® to each order, apply a promo code to deduct 25%, and adjust shipping to free UPS ground if your order total exceeded $100. Troy Industries does not finalize orders or charge credit cards until the order is ready to process. You may, however, now notice a hold on your account. Your card will only be charged at time of shipping. Because we were offering such a deep discount for Independence Day – 25% - and our Independence Upper at such a competitive final price point - $499 – we will only allow one promo code to be applied to each order, as advertised. We understand that some confusion lies in the fact that you may have seen more than one Troy promo code online this weekend. Five codes were created for five groups with each group receiving the same 25% off discount, special and free offers. These unique codes will help us understand our marketing efforts and influence future advertising and sales initiatives. The terms of the sale were clearly stated to all five groups with the standard restrictions including "cannot be combined with any other offers". Thank you for your support of Troy and for your understanding. Again, we apologize for any confusion. If you have any questions or wish to discuss your order with a sales associate, feel free to call us at 866-788-6412 during our normal business hours M-F 8:30 - 5 or email us at . Best regards, All of us at Troy |

An obvious loophole that continued for nearly 36 hours? If Troy had closed the "loophole" within the first 12 hours or so I would agree with you. But, tjey knew about the "issue" and continued to let people place orders for another 24 hours. Almost like they want to piss people off. Right because I am sure they were totally on the ball during 4th of July weekend aka one of the busiest vacation weekends all summer long That would be a good point, but they made multiple replies to other threads and issues during the time this deal was left up. They intentionally ignored this issue (for reasons unknown) during that time period. So the dude who is in charge of monitoring Facebook and web forums is also the guy that can fix all the problems?? Good chance he isn't the guy who reviews the web orders either. Again this would be a good point, buuuuuut they took the website down at least twice and then put it back up with the same ability to stack the coupons. They could have even issued a statement via Facebook / ARFCOM addressing the issue before the actual correction was completed. Instead they waited, and then sent out an email saying they will just change the invoice for you. |

lol then why has my card been charged already? It Wasn't There is no reason to place a hold on an account for any amount until it is time to ship. Hell, even PSA doesn't do that anymore. All companies (as in every single company in existence) does a pre-authorization on a credit card during the checkout procedure. They have to as that is the only way to verify that a credit card number is valid and that there is a sufficient available balance to charge the amount being requested. A pre-authorization is NOT a charge but rather a hold on the funds for generally 2-3 days until the order is shipped at which point it is put through as an actual sale. The only time where this appears as a "hold" is when people are stupid and use a debit card. In this situation the funds are actually set aside. That is why using a debit card online is a bad idea as when you use a credit card it only affects your available credit (ie not "real" money) which is mostly likely much higher than what your balance is while when using a debit card it is actually placing a hold on "real" money. |

One of the other threads had a few reports of people receiving calls from Troy's staff today that were not requested. They were given two options...Pay more or Cancel the order.
Those poor souls having to work their way through the order info and then make call after call... Wes |

I still don't get the denial of all sales, some of us received a sale preview email at the end of June that clearly states you'll get an extra 25% off the sale price by using the code along with an additional surprise discount when using it. It clearly stated the sale price of $499, with free mag, free shipping and the additional 25% off go that with an additional mystery discount the day of. Do you not know you sent that out?
Troy's June 30th email flyer showing the extra discounts (on top of the $499) that will be available to those on the email list in addtion to the free mag and shipping! |
|
How long before that linked sale flyer ad page is nuked from Troy's server like Louis Lerner's emails from the IRS?

Fuk it. Called and cancelled my order. They don't even bat an eye at losing an order over 25%.
Sad sad. Also, LOL @ the woman trying to explain the situation like people manipulated their system to use multiple coupon codes. Like I said before - this was the one chance I was going to give Troy. I don't own any of their products and this ensures that I never will. |

I canceled my order for the VTAC 7.2 rail. It was worth the $68 I agreed to buy it at. It is definitely not worth the MSRP of $163, even at 25% off. There are many better options out there in that price range that are keymod or MLOK rails which are much lighter and have QD sockets built in.

Their website's prices are higher than their distributor prices. With 25% off they're just beginning to compete for what prices can be found on their stuff elsewhere. 50% off was ACTUALLY a sale price. Even at 50% off, I can just about guarantee you they'd still be turning a profit. Maybe not much, but still turning a profit. Which is more than they should hope for given their fuked up past (and, well, present). A block of billet aluminum the size of which it takes to make one of their 12" - 15" rails is maybe $60. Probably even cheaper for them since they have a contract most likely with their supplier. On top of that, I don't know what their machine shop's layout is, but they're probably using Mazak Multi-taskers for the most part, which would mean they can pump these rails out by the hundreds a day - meaning very minimal tool/labor time. My point is this one time, they could have taken the high road, honored the prices, not lost money, and made themselves look good for once. |

Sure would be nice of em to release the hold on my money they've had for 3 days now...

Well Troy emailed me back about the email showing the stacked discount we were supposed to get and basically said sorry for the confusion, go fuck yourself!

So for the first time ever I'm going to post the following;
FUCK TROY! |

My email to them, I also included a screen shot of their original email ad and their subsequent response that all orders were bunk:
From: XXXX
Sent: Monday, July 07, 2014 5:17 PM To: Troy Sales Team Subject: Order #32XXX pricing question On July 5th I ordered your advertised Independence Carbine complete upper using the available coupon codes. Then I get the email below stating that the coupon codes weren't meant to be used together even though you emailed me prior telling me I was getting a special offer. If you see the email below it clearly says that I will receive an extra discount as I'm on the Troy mailing list, so I'm thoroughly confused as to what's going on and why you're saying the price won't be honored. Thanks, XXXXXX View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes From: XXXX

I apologize for any confusion or convenience. The 25% off was the special offer that was being offered. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. My response: Got it, the same canned response to my specific question that everyone is getting. I'm sure you're not the one responsible for this mess and I feel sorry for the stress you must be under having to deal with all this stuff, but this is truly going to hurt your company. Your reputation was in bad shape before this, now folks like me are going to check out from your company. It's pretty bad when the way a company is run is so bad that it ruins the good product it sells
Their response: Hi XXXXXX,
They lowest I can offer the Independence Upper for is $499.00 with free shipping and a 30rd battlemag. This was a fixed sale that the 25% did not apply to. Just cancelled my order for 6 back up sights, tired of fucking around with these assholes and I decided to support knights armament instead.
Fuck Troy |

Yeah, they truly don't gaf at all if they lose your sale. Doesn't seem to bother em a bit. I got this notion when I called to cancel my order.
Most people are probably just saying fuk it and settling for just 25% off though, which is probably why Troy isn't phased. They figured that would likely happen. |

Ive already cancelled my order, and I wouldnt want their shit for the discounted price now after seeing how they treat their customers. I dont know what they pay to be a site sponsor, but I wish the mods would tell them to get to packing. From now on, any time anybody even mentions Troy around me, they are gonna get the full story on this company.
