At the moment, there is no budget spotting scope available with a ffp mil dot or similar reticle. Bushnell used to make this 15-45 prismatic model but it had been discontinued for several years. Used models now fetch $100-150 more than the original $350 retail price. Based on this fact, i think that this would be a prime offering for PA to offer in the $300 or less range. Beyond mil dot, a grid like the Horus spotting reticle would also be a good suggestion.
I've got a couple of the 4-14's as well a 1-6 and I think this is something that a manufacturer of the quality that makes these scopes could probably make at a wholesale of. $150ish if not less. That would leave plenty of meat for you guys to make a profit on as well as potentially expand your market to other budget precision shooters, who would be apt to look at some of your newer higher priced offerings. |

I'll take one of these, and a 1-8x FFP Mil/Mil scope please. I would be all over both of these. 1-8 FFP mil mil is coming I designed the mil reticle for it, so it will still be very fast and very accurate usable even if battery dies. Not sure on ETA or price point, as far as the spotting scope I have been pushing for it for 2 years now, maybe if enough make noise it will happen. I have a reticle ready to go that you guys would love in a spotting scope. -Dimitri . |

If a FFP spotting was brought to market at a moderate $$$, using a reticle by Dimitri, I'd be owning one!

I'll make some noise....and back that up with a credit card.
FFP Spotting Scope with Mil-dot reticle...Primary Arms quality and value...heck yes! |

As I told Dmitri, as long as I get at least a top magnification of 60x, I'm in. If it's between $200 - $500, it'll sell like hotcakes, especially if it's in a relatively small form factor. PA punches far above their weight as far as value when it comes to optics.

If PA were to put out a FFP, decent reticle (mil-dot or other, don't care), with at least a 60x, a small form factor like the Leupold the military uses in the lower half of your price range, they would probably sell better than their 1-6x (which I own and love). I seriously hope this is being worked on. ETA: Interest thread started in Precision Rifle's optic board: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_16_5/1250_.html&page=1 |

Where is the shut up and take my money meme? Definitely would want that spotting scope.

It would have to have a mil grid reticle similar to the Horus offerings in the Leupold spotters. But yeah, make the scope.

I'm still looking to see if I can pick up a Bushnell Excursion somewhere, but the Konus will have to do for now. I had a Burris XTS 2575 spotting scope that I picked up off of Craigslist, but I ended up not liking that too much. I chimed in on your other thread and I'm in complete agreement with what you said above regarding the optimum requirements. |

I know I would take one and I can think of 2 others at least.

I'll gladly accept a sales commission of 1 sample for getting this train rolling if it comes to pass.

I need a spotting scope. if primary arms made these, I would most likely purchase

Is it anything like the reticle on your new 4-14X44 FFP Scope with ACSS® HUD DMR .308/.223 Reticle? I have come to really like this reticle and I think something similar in a 1-8 is just what a couple of my guns need. |

Hard to explain but the ACSS HUD DMR is designed for a 4-14X + optic and would not show up at 1-2X the FFP ACSS found in the 1-8X we will be posting pics of the reticle soon. -Dimitri |

For a spotter I'd personally prefer mildots as a general reticule but if you wanted to add the standard ranging marks that many scopes are now using i.e. the 5'-10" and the 18" and 10" type marks I wouldn't not buy it. I wouldn't buy a MOA reticule personally.
But if you can pull this off at a decent price point with glass that has enough resolution to be useful at >400 yards I'd be all over this and know a couple of folks that would as well. |
|
I would definitely consider one with a mil reticle, I've been thinking a bit about upgrading my spotter, but I'm in no rush.
|
|
Yes please sign me up, I'd prefer an moa Xmas tree style reticle but I'd settle for a mil dot
|
|
I'd love to see something in an affordable price range with a good reticle using mils.
MOA wouldn't move me, nor would something nonstandard just designed for ranging. |

I would be interested in this (mil FFP)
However, unlike some here, I prefer a 40x scope. |
