The advantage I see over the 4X using the 1-6X is having the ability to go to 1-2X and be very fast at CQB. For that reason I run a MD-ADS on 45 while using 4X giving me both fast CQB and Mid Range capability with an additional back up optic. Both are great, I run the 4X more because its compact and looks lol.

I have a 4x on an a2 and don't think the 1-6 would be all that great in that application, so there's that. Also have one on an 15-22 and like it alot on there (though it will be replaced with the 22 acss I've been ever so impatiently waiting for). Have a 1-6 on a recce and wouldn't think of changing that out except for another low/mid power variable, if anyone else made a reticle as rapidly usable.

Yeah, up close (very close) is about the only down side to the 4x. It's still very usable just not anywhere even close to being as fast as the low side of the 1-6. I'd say from about 30 feet or so and in is where I have issues. I shoot it both eye open and I'm still on target but all hits are a good bit left. I'm guessing this has something to do with being a prism or maybe it's because 1 eye is seeing normal vision and the other is trying to collaborate at 4x?
Outside that distance my hits are point of aim (still using both eyes), so I don't know?
Mind you this happens whether it's just a quick snap shot or running across multiple targets rapidly in succession up real close and the distance to the left is pretty consistent. If I shoot with one eye shut it still hits left just not as far but like I said once I get back past 15 yards or so I'm hitting dead center and 1.5" low and dead on at 100.
The 1-6 I have none of this, that optic just flat out kicks ass and there's nothing more to be said about it (except I want longer battery life, but I want that in everything regardless). You can run that thing like a red dot up to contact distance and out to the the limits of the round with repeatable accuracy. There's not enough good to say about it and I think your constant out of stock sign goes to show just that.
