And it's too bad I just spent 500 on a Rock Island 45. Also I saw a red dot mini reflex mounted atop the prism in one of the promo videos on with the 4x's page on the website. Curious to know what brand and price point. |

Just got mine today. This optic is replacing a 2.5-10 Vortex Viper that I relocated to a bolt gun. I really think the 4x is going to work out well on this 16" 308. This is generally a mid-range gun,and the higher magnifications of the vortex were very rarely used out in the woods (Yes this thing goes hunting!). Clarity of the 4x is great and the reticle is much cleaner then any of the YouTube videos show! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p3p6u7LIYWw/U2VyGGEW_LI/AAAAAAAAKJk/a8qCmTVuq5I/w1236-h695-no/IMG_20140503_154744801.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-s855fMlWTh4/U2Vx_eKr3bI/AAAAAAAAKJY/keW2LblMu0k/w1236-h695-no/IMG_20140503_154717270.jpg View Quote Nice!!!! Let us know how she does at the range/field Dimitri |

I'm having a problem mounting my 4x Compact back far enough on my rail. I'm using the AD-B3 mount and have a troy folding sight behind it. It seems like only one set of mounting holes on the AD-B3 are compatible with the 4x Compact.
http://s9.postimg.org/ee09zf4xb/Untitled.png I can't close the gap between the base and rear sight, and I can't seem to mount the optic any further back on the mount without using a single mounting screw. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? |
|
Have you took off the rear cap and adjusted the focus? What are you seeing in your sight picture? Are you seeing Vennay or shadow around the sight picture? That's actually where you want it to be and see. If your are seeing too much shadow then that's not good but a little is perfect, it helps you center the crosshairs or reticle similar to a rear sight. If all fails try a different mount.

So, what are folk's opinions on this vs. the 1-6x variable?
Both are around the same price point and weight. The fixed 4X looks smaller. Generally you get better glass for the $$$ with a fixed vs a variable; is that true here? Thanks! |

So had some range time with the new sight today. Pros: Clear crisp glass, ACSS reticle WORKS!, and adjustments seem to be right on. Cons: honestly the only thing I can say bad at this point is eye relief is a little finicky. However I don't think this is uncommon with prism sights in general, and once I got used to it I seemed to find the sweet spot faster and faster with each shot. PA, I think this one is a winner! https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-sid0rUwPV88/U2vVMclYw1I/AAAAAAAAKM0/JrTbzoOdhBY/w1236-h695-no/IMG_20140508_105517636_HDR.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-0PE7HhLKWYo/U2vVK14478I/AAAAAAAAKMo/DKH27XjJDgw/w1236-h695-no/IMG_20140508_105501809_HDR.jpg View Quote LOL ACSS reticle works! where have you been? JK Yeah its pre milled and laser edged so its dead on!! We are hitting center mass out to 800 yards!! There is a video where I hit 700 yards over and over again. The more you shoot it the faster and more accurate you will become. If you ever get a change engage center mass targets 18" or full height 5'10" at unknown distances. Then try it will any other scope that does not have BDC and AUTO range correlated and compare. There is where you will appreciate the ACSS! In real world threats don't present them selves at known ranges... Dimitri |

Gotta bump this since I'm thinking about getting one if these ... Any updates?

After having put some rounds down range I'd recommend this optic with out issue to anyone! I like it so much I ended up buying a 2.5x for my 556 AR! These optics are clear, simple, feels extremely rugged, and the price is great! Only thing I'd recommend is add the ADM mount. The Mount makes the optic that much more convenient should you need to take it off for any reason and still be able to remount just as quick while keeping zero. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-YvyT8u65VaA/U3zUasmMWQI/AAAAAAAAKaY/gZKgsJ2CAMA/w391-h695-no/IMG_20140521_092923263.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Sorry the rest of my question had got cut off somehow ...,
Here is what it should have said. M&P15 Question ........ In this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goAlWBhaXV8 When the reticle is illuminated its illuminates ALL of the side and bottom auto-ranging bars etc. .... can it be set to Just have say the horseshoe illuminated that's all or does the entire horseshoe, below BDC range bars and the side auto range height bars have to be illuminated as well? For me I would like to just have the reticle and center red-dot lit and all others stuff not unless needed. Is this possible? Thanks and I look forward to your reply. :) |
|
It is all illuminated. I just purchased one and am waiting to zero it. It looks and feels great.

Just ordered mine today!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thoughts to come after it arrives.! |

Marshall .... Dimitri !!!
Question: do you have a guide on Exactly how to read and interpret the ACSS reticle??? Or is there full details that come with the scope??? I am sure there is something but do you have anything REALLY in depth? I am 100% green to scopes in general and wan't to be able to learn to the "T" how it works and what it all means and where to place the target how to read the Autoranging, CQB, Bullet Drop, etc I have seen the pictures of the ACSS reticle with basic details around it and what not like here .... > http://www.primaryarms.com/v/vspfiles/photos/PAPS1-6X-6.jpg But I would love to see more in depth reporting. Thanks so much ... just trying to prepare for my scope to arrive Friday. :) |

Also I would like to see the copy Marshall was going to post as this video is very basic and really didn't help much at all. If the video did not help then what is it that you want to know? You understand the ranging bracket ranges average height and center mass, the leads are set for 8.6mph its how fast a target sprints holding a weapon, the BDC is just that correlated with center mass and there is a 5mph wind hold that you can cut in half or double depending on wind. Let me know if I missed something but its designed to be simple yet give you all the detail in order to make the shots needed. PM me if you want. Dimitri |

I just need time with it I guess and now what I'm looking at.
Plus scopes and all this are basically 100% new to me so really a lot of this info and lingo etc. is a bit foreign. Like I said just to green really and need to learn more I think. |

View Quote Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be an option anymore. I just bought the new 4x Prism ACSS this weekend. Besides owning a PA fixed based micro dot (one of my favorite optics ever) and aware of their quality/rep. One of the reasons I decided to pull the trigger, was the great package for the ADM QD. As a disabled vet on a fixed income, this was a big (and kind of my fathers' day) purchase for me. However, I tried a few times to order with the mount option and it kept coming up, out-of-stock and wouldn't let me proceed with the order, until I selected just the standard mount. I don't want to mount an optic on my rifle, without the ability to QD, unless I have a co-witness. I want/need to ability to get to my irons fast. Plus, all the reviews said... get the ADM mount! I've looked around and the same mount would cost me minimum $80+ (with the shipping) upwards of $110. The alternatives are either a couple hundred, or not well-received/reviewed. Anyone have anything, given my financial situation, of ideas/alternatives? Love the forum, btw. I just purchased my first AR (S&W M&P 15) and have used this site for a resource, more times than I can remember. Especially the excellent member write-ups and reviews. I've done reviews in the past, on other subjects and I'm seriously impressed with the depth you guys get into. Way beyond anything I've ever written up. I have a lot to learn on the subject of the AR platform, so glad to be here. |
