Anyone find any cattails that work with these yet? Now that I got all my first AR up and running this past week (thank you Palmetto State Armory), I've been spending the week trying to figure out optics. Stumbled upon this scope this week and I'm planning on running it with a micro dot offset. Looks like a great start to a solution and in my post build (aka brokeass) budget.
Marshall, how long does it usually take to go from customs inspection to in stock/shipping? |
|
Just answered my own question. Looks like these are back in stock. Just picked one 4-16x as well as a Micro Dot for my 1 O'clock mount. Looking forward to getting some hands on with this stuff!

Hi MARSH,
I noticed these are back in stock. Any changes/updates from the previous shipment? -Some report illumination too bright even on "1" - any improvements? -Some report it begins to get a little fuzzy @ 14x and higher - any improvements? -Are the mil-dots accurate 16x still? A comment in the EE thread says 10x, no update/mention of 16x on that thread. -Scope caps loose - any improvements here? Thank you. |

Mil Dot is calibrated at 16X Glass is clear as all but one reviews state. I took the scope back from that person and everyone at the shop says it is super clear. It is no Nightforce but is comparable to scopes cost much more. Scope caps suck. We have Bulter Creeks at a great price. The illumination issues is with the 3-9X. That one is being replaced. |

I might have missed this somewhere, but do these hold up on .30-06? I'm just putting mine on my AR, but my cousin is looking for a good scope in a budget for his new .30-06.

Thanks for the straight dope. ETA: Order will be inbound as soon as tomorrow or as late as end of next week. |

That is beyond what we have tested for. We have up to a .308. Noticed this while checking on my questions and thought I'd add my 2 cents. Having shot many a .308 and 30-06 side-by-side on multiple occasions I can say that while *on average* the 30-06 has *slightly* more recoil, I have shot some 30-06's with less recoil than other .308s. Because the rounds are so similar in projectile weight vs. velocity, it really depends on a lot of factors such as rifle weight, stock type, muzzle device, etc. For example: Browning A-Bolt 30-06 with factory brake had less recoil than a bare muzzle Savage .308. A bare muzzle pre-64 Winchester M70 30-06 had a bit more recoil than the Savage .308. A PO Ackley 30-06 in Mauser action was comparable (slightly less due that rifle being slightly heavier) to the Win. M70 when firing plain-jane 30-06, but a tad more stout when firing 30-06 AI loads. Although PA won't say it at this point in time, I'd bet you'll be ok using this on a 30-06. I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try if I needed a budget scope for a 30-06 platform. The PA 4x16 I order shortly will be finding its home on a Savage 11 in .308. |

what mount is recommended for an AR? Would you still be able to use MBUS?
Thanks Paul |

I had to sell my Leupold to pay my taxes and picked up this as a replacement so I had the opportunity to compare them side by side, and I have to say I'm floored by the quality. The construction feels rock solid. The turrets don't feel bad. The glass is ridiculously good for the price. All in all, this is a stellar value. Highly recommended.

Couple questions....
How would this compare to say a Nikon ProStaff 4-12? And will this thing focus down to 25 yards? Thanks! |
|
it will focus down to 25 yards just fine. i own 3 of them because at 54 years old i'm not likely to have to make a shot on the taliban at 1000 yards anytime soon. i had a leupold that lived in the safe isold it and bought 3 of the primary arms scopes and paid bills with the differance. i run them on 2 m1a's and a spr clone in 6.8. they hold zero perfectly.

What rings did you use? Are you happy with the purchase? |

Good thing I read this thread before ordering. I planned on using this scope on my R700 7mm Rem Mag. I guess Ill have to keep looking for something that is tested for my caliber.

Whats the difference between the Illuminated mil dot and the mil mil ffp? The 4-14X is front focal plane. Tell me what it is going on and the distance and I will give you the pros and cons |

Just got it mounted this morning. So far everything looks great. I hope to shoot it this week. |

Thinking of putting this on my Rem 700 SPS Varmit 26' .308. Will it hold up? Anybody tried?
Never mind.....overlooked a post 2 pages back |

I have a 4x16x44 that I purchased in November of last year this is my second scope of this model. But I think I have a problem on the elevation turret the ring that has the numbers on it spins freely from the turret so I can't set my dope and return to what my other settings are? My question is is there something I can do to fix this myself or should I return it?

There was a revision and that will determine where the threads are on yours. |

Now that you mentioned that I figured it out and all is good. Thanks a million and thanks for standing behind your products, and providing excellent tech support!

Guess I should have read through this before ordering... Anyone ever try this out on a .30-06 bolt action with good results?
EDIT: Also just making sure that the mil dots are still good at 16x. I've read 10x, 14x, and 16x. |
|
Anyone have one of these on top of a Mosin? Thinking of throwing one on with a Rock Solid Industries mount.

Well after reading the reviews and this thread I pulled the trigger a few minutes ago. I will post some pictures when it gets in and I get it on.

What is the consensus on these regarding clarity at 16x? I've read a couple impressions of it being fuzzy. That would be totally understandable for the price range but I just want to know for sure since the increased magnification is what I need for my "long range" 22 if I upgrade from my current 2.5-10.
|
|
I haven't noticed it being fuzzy at 16x. That's pretty much where I always have it set.

Thanks for the replies guys. Also, are the click adjustments nice and tactile? My main complaint about the Weaver KASPA currently on my 22 build is the extreme mushiness of the adjustments, other than that it's fantastic for the $. I like Vortex PSTs for my nice centerfire stuff but for obvious reasons I want something more affordable for a 22 LR toy that will likely never be called upon in a serious situation. This scope looks like an awfully attractive alternative indeed.

I am by no means a firearms expert and the only way I could explain how they feel is that they are smooth and responsive. I can tell how many clicks I have gone without looking at the scope. Hope this helps you out. |

I'm not expecting Vortex or Leupold quality turrets but I want something that I can count the clicks w/o looking at the turret. |

I ordered one today with an AD mount.
My PA 1-4x doesn't have the magnification I need for taking out gophers out past 100 yards consistently. It's going to be a fun summer. I'll post some pics when it gets here. |

Marshall, I had this scope at the range yesterday and noticed, as shown in the pics above, that the turrets say 1/4" at 100 yards. The adjustments are actually 1/4 MOA though, right? I know there's not much difference but I want to put the right info into iStrelok and it does make a difference at longer ranges.
