How is the durability of these lights in the long run? I want one that will last that I won't need to replace, so I'm looking at these, thinking they are good to go, but I want some input form someone who's used one for a while, and abused it. Or should I just get a surefire?

is the tape switch foe the Gen 2 compatible with the notches in either of the Tango Down grips?

I just got this light a couple days ago and holy cow is it bright. Took it outside and shined it across the yard. It lit up my entire yard and I could easily see my dogs running around at about 150 yards with it. Very good light so far. It is a bit big and heavy (doesnt bother me though) but should be a great light for some hog hunting.
Does any one know the battery life for this light? |

I'd love to see some pics of the compact weopon light guys. The normal one is far to big for what I'd want. The compact could be a a good option however. It would 'match' my PA micro red dot!

TheUWL seems a little big and if the Compact still puts out 400 lumens, it seems like a great option for weight/cost effectiveness. Thanks all. If I add one of these and a magnifier, I'll have a Magpul/PA bastard Stag with a couple other mfg parts for measure. |

They use the same LED but the large deep head of the larger light gives much longer throw. The short head is a better choice for inside or city size lots. |

For comparison, I've found that my streamlight tlr1s has been suitable for my needs on a handgun and on my AR. That said, I'm thinking I want to try a light for the AR that has a tape switch. I'm just not seeing a lot of pics/reviews on the compact and was hoping my post might trigger some of those helpful responses that led to my buying my PA micro which I really like. Could be that it's new enough where those reviews and pics just havn't found their way onto the forums yet which is cool. As ownership and use increases I'd love to see a dedicated forum, much like the one's for the red dots and the UWL. Thanks Marshal and product owners for all the helpful info ETA: my crappy spelling |

Does the tape switch on the Primary Arms Compact Weapon Light FDE (700 Lumens) GENII fit inside the Tango down tape switch panels? Surefire size?

Not the ultimate, but the 700 lumen compact mounted in a Daniel Defense mount. First post on the forum. Had an old account associated with an email address that I no longer use, from nearly 8-9 years ago.
To stay on topic, This light would be EXTREMELY marketable to hunters if it had drop in options like Red or Green LEDs. Even more so, an aspherical lens option for LONG throw would make this thing perfect in every aspect. Right now, the most affordable aspherical option is priced well above this light, and leaves a lot to be desired. |

I have a factory visit planned and will see if they can make these a option |

To further push it, add an IR option to the drop-ins, and I'm sure the Texas guys running NV gear for Hogs would drool all over the place. I know I would.
|

Any updates in reference to your factory visit?
Obviously not asking you to divulge information about potential products, however I am curious if this is even feasible? I could see the main drawback being size. Thank you for well priced products that work. |

I received my ultimate weapon light today...wow.
It is a little big but the light throw and output is worth it. You guys rock! |

I tried digging back through, will PA be making a compacter light to compete with the Surefire Mini? I'm thinking a 1 battery light for a house SBR. Just got your compact WL, but I'd love something even smaller and lighter, and preferably with a pressure switch still.

Bump w/update & pics posted above.
Question: I haven't been able to find any reported durability problems w/the UWL, how does the Gen3 compare w/Surefires nowadays? Tomac |
|
Marshall, I started a new post but thought I'd try here too. Is the color of the FDE UWL more burnt bronze than FDE? All the pics I've seen seems to be more BB then FDE.

I received my UWL in the mail today and am pleased. Two questions, though:
1. Is anyone aware of any Keymod mounts that are compatible with the light? 2. How are people securing their tape switches to the handguard? Should I just use some zip ties? Electrical tape? |
|
Very interested in the UWL Gen III. Does anyone use this light with a dual switch like Surefire's momentary on/off switch with constant on button? Would the SF Scout Light Rear Cap work on the UWL? Thanks.
|
|
Does anyone have a comparison pic of the PA light next to a SF 952? Would just like to see the size difference.

Love my UWL Gen3's, surprisingly good quality, headed for a night-shoot this weekend to see what they can do! Tomac http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/Tomac/PB100002.jpg Here's what's different!: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v465/Tomac/PB100004.jpg As much as I like the UWL, it is hefty and when mounted on the Magpul MOE hand guard the height of the mount & rail makes access by my support hand thumb to be less than optimal (doable, but not optimal). So, how to lower the height and get the switch as close to the hand guard as possible? Idea: Right now, to attach a light I have to add a rail to the MOE hand guard, add a mount to a light (UWL's mount is integral but removable), then attach the mount to the rail. This adds height & weight. Looking at the mount bolt holes on the bottom of the UWL, I got to thinking (always a dangerous thing for us OCD types ), would it be possible to mount the UWL directly to the hand guard similar to any other MOE attachment? Stopped by Home Depot and picked up a couple of 10-32 1/2" flat head socket cap screws for $1 (1/2" instead of the std 5/16" to account for the thickness of the hand guard and MOE retainer plate). Drilled out a couple of Magpul MOE threaded reatainer plates so the threaded portion of the 10-32 flat heads could easily pass through yet still act as a washer to prevent the head of the screws from pulling through the slots in the MOE hand guard. Removed the UWL's mount, passed the flat head screws w/MOE retainer plates) out through the slots from inside the hand guard, used hex wrench to attach/tighten the screws to the bottom of the UWL. Problem: When configured for 2 batteries, the bezel touches the side of the front of the hand guard, preventing proper attachment (I suppose you could shim w/washers & longer screws, more hassle than I wanted to mess with). Solution: Reconfigure back to 3 batteries, this places the bezel forward of the hand guard. Result: Solid non-permanent mount w/less height/weight than previously and much easier to access w/my support hand thumb (plus the added bonus of 50% greater runtime thanks to the 3rd battery). Being mounted in the hand guard slots, there is some latitude for placing the light fore and aft, but I found as far forward as possible worked best for me (YMMV). This appears to be a very solid arrangement, movement of the UWL is precluded in all directions except straight back, and that would take a very powerful blow make the light move back down the hand guard slots. Tomac View Quote This sounds like an awesome idea. Can you update the post with pics so we can see how it looks. I am thinking of trying this. |

Does anyone know if you can change out the LED for Green? Primary Arms should make this same power LED/Light in Green it'd make for a great hunting light.

Are these and the gen II's "momentary" mode only?
No constant on mode? |
