Received mine in the mail today. Got it mounted and now just need to sight it in. I was considering getting a similar red dot since it was looking like the shipment was coming in anytime soon. I sure am glad I waited. Saw the FB post on Thursday and ordered almost immediately.
Thanks for offering such a great product at a more than reasonable cost. Fast shipping also..of course it helps that I live just north of Houston. I will definitely buy purchasing more from Primary Arms. http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag57/DonBaldy/20130119_171843.jpg |

I have one of these and must say that they are great for the standard .556 round. However don't even think that they are high enough quailty to take a big bore. I made that mistake and the red dot made it a whole 5 rounds. Agree. The Micro Dots are much higher shock rated. Plenty in use on shotguns Is there a thread that discusses which optic to pic? And which mounts for which applications? I want to get a red/micro dot and a magnifier, but not sure which way to go... generaly it's for plinking and fun at the range, but might take it hunting some day. Just so i can show Cuomo that it's good for that... Seems like the options are; Primary Arms 30mm Red Dot Primary Arms Multi-Reticle 30mm Red Dot Sight PAM3M (besides more reticle options, and a different battery, not sure what this gets me...) Primary Arms Micro Dot With Removable Base And Kill Flash MD-08 (ETA LATE JAN 2013) Primary Arms Micro Dot With Fixed Base and AR Height Riser Mount MD-07-UTG Also, since i won't have a Front Sight post, do i need to worry about the riser hieght? And what is the difference for the regular and deluxe magnifiers? (besides the cost...) Lastly; which mount combo i need? for the red dot, Is the High AR cantilever the same as the non-cantelever except it doesn't flip to the side? for the magnifier, do i need a burris AR Height QD Pivot ring? Or the regular one is good to go (thumb screw or quick disconnect)? If i buy the micro dot, will the magnifier work with it too, they are the same no matter which? Sorry for so many questions, but i want to be sure that what i buy will work on my upper... |

Ordered two of the 30mm red dots yesterday based on the positive comments on them and on PA as a company. They'll both be going on a couple M&P 15-22s. I'll post pics once I get all of the other stuff I ordered to make these into tacticool little plinkers

Do you guys think the multi-reticule is worth $30 more than the standard sight? Is the multi much brighter than the single? For the guys with the multi's, is the slight shift in zero when changing reticules a problem?

It is not brighter but in super bright conditions the larger reticle can be quicker to pick up than the single dot. The shift in negligible so I wouldn't let that be the deciding factor. |

I received my red dot yesterday, monday, and had order it on last friday. It definately was fast shipping, however, my order was missing the allen wrench to put the mount on. I have sent an email requesting the part but have not heard back yet. Any chance of getting the wrench?

I was pleasantly suprise to have a message on my answering machine that had answer from Marshall with some of the questions and concerns I had. It is rare now a days to have the owner of a company contact a consumer when there is a problems. Primary Arms will be my go to site for accessories for my AR and Mini 14 rifles. Thanks again. |

First AR build. For more pics, go here.
Primary Arms 30mm Multi-Reticle dot, high mount. Love it. Quick to zero. Lightweight and solid. Bravo rail and grip also from PA. If you're here wondering about buying from PA, go proceed with full confidence. The shipping is fast, the service second to none. http://2.mattstanfield.com/images/ar/PA1.jpg http://2.mattstanfield.com/images/ar/PA2.jpg http://2.mattstanfield.com/images/ar/PA3.jpg http://2.mattstanfield.com/images/ar/PA4.jpg http://2.mattstanfield.com/images/ar/PSA1.jpg |

Ordered Friday, got it today. Looks good so far. I will give a full report after it is mounted and I get a few rounds down range.

Hey Marshall,
I was planning on picking up a Primary Arms Multi-Reticle 30mm Red Dot Sight PAM3M. There is no in-stock estimate on the site and I'm not asking for a specific date, but I just wanted to make sure you were planning on restocking the item. Thanks! |

Thanks Marshall,
in that case i'll probably pick up a micro and AD mount when they become available in a couple weeks. Thanks again. Quoted:

Hello everyone! I was wondering if there was a picture of the co-witness with this red dot and say an A-2 front with a magpul MBUS rear. I know this is specific but that is my current setup and from everything I have read about these optics they are a great buy so I just want to be sure they will work. Thanks.

I am considering getting one of these 30mm red dot sights, also considering the vortex strike force. Anyone compare them side by side?
If I were to get the PA, what mount do I need if i want absolute cowitness with my front Magul MBUS? And do I need a cant mount? Well never run magnififier (9mm SBR AR) Thx guys. |

Question for someone with more knowledge than me...
I got the red dot with the cantelever mount and a 3 magnifier with the Burris AR-Height QD PIvot Ring 30mm. The problem i have is when i mount the magnifier in that mount, it is off axis be about 7-8 mm. This results in not being able to look through the magnifier without some pretty bad optical issues... the dot becomes a blur and moves around a lot... (paralax problem)? I'll try to take a picture from above, but it was obvious to the naked eye they are not aligned at all.... Any ideas? Scot |

Once we get that soretd out I can walk you through the rest. |

Looks to be within tolerances we see with the Burris mount. Give me a calla and lets walk though the setup.

I am looking at ordering the 3x magnifier. I don't see many people with the Burris mount. I really would prefer a flip mount rather than the swing away mount. Is the Burris going to be close to quality as the ADM one? If or me it looks like its this or spend double on the larue.

Really impressed with mine. Clear glass, I can see the dot in bright sunlight at level 1 but its great at 3. It does starburst at 7 but I don't think I will need it that high often anyway. It does have a tool mark/scratch in the tube but it doesn't effect the optics function. Totally satisfied. I ordered at 10:30 am on Friday had a tracking order my 2:30 and it was at my door my 10:30 am Monday.

Well, after putting it off for a year now I finally ordered a Primary Arms M3 Clone. I intended to order one last April, but when I finally decided they went out of stock!
I eventually ordered a Vortex Strikefire. Now don't get me wrong, the Strikefire is a good sight, but it has a few too many bells and whistles for my taste. The biggest issue I have is the on/off button is way too easy to bump, especially if you are using a top mount sling. I'm going to use the Vortex absolute co-witness mount for my PA M3. Can't wait. |
|
Received the PA Red Dot today, and promptly bolted it on to my rifle. It's replacing a Vortex Strikefire. I liked the Strikefire OK, but it had several things that bugged me - too many fussy features and little pushbuttons all over it was my main complaint. (On the other hand it's hard to beat Vortex's warranty.) Where Vortex put the off/on button it is way to easy to bump it and turn the unit on by accident, even just if you were carrying the rifle on a sling or in a case. Also the Strikefire had a 4 MOA dot, and I think I'll like the smaller dot of the PA better.
The Strikefire was absolute co-witnessed with my BUIS, so when I received the PA and got it mounted - I used the Vortex mount - it was easy to just dial the dot to line up with the irons. Initial impressions are very good. I like the off/on switch being built into the knob on the back of the battery/electronics case - at least it won't be accidentally turned on as easy as that of the Strikefire. I do wish the knob had a little more positive detenting, but the O-ring gasket makes it hard enough to turn that I think it will be OK. One thing I did was to take a white paint pen and put a little white dot on the top of the knob to line up with the factory dot on the battery/electronics case to make it easy to verify "off", especially when the rifle is standing in the rack. I like that the logo is buried under the mount - I dislike flashy logos on my gear. Boy, that rubber spider thingy was a bear to get on to those knobs! If it rains tomorrow as they are predicting, and my granddaughter's soccer game is cancelled, I'll head over to the range and verify the sight-in. |
|
Didn't make it to the range today, but in fooling around with my new PA I discovered that the Vortex Strikefire 2X magnifier threads right in to the PA 30mm red dot!

I finally got to the range with my rifle with the M3 clone red dot. This sight works GREAT!
As I said earlier I replaced a Vortex Strikefire with this one. Nothing wrong with the Vortex other than I thought that it was too feature-rich and a little too bulky. I did mount the PA sight in the Vortex mount, which gives it an absolute co-witness. When I mounted it I just adjusted the dot to align with my BUIS. When I fired the rifle to sight it in I then had to come up 6 clicks and right 2. Funny though that the dot is still aligned with the irons! I am very happy with the PA red dot! |
|
I just received my red dot today and I was surprised that I cannot see the dot at all until I turn it to at least 6. This was done indoors and in the dark. Is this normal?

Thanks for responding on here and to my email right away Marshal. My only complaint about primary is I wish you had a bigger product catalogue so I never had to order anywhere else!
|
|
Have a guesstimate on when these will be back in stock? I'm going on a shooting trip at the end of August and would rather use this than my irons.

Just adding in .02c on the PAM3M I've had for ~9 months, and ~2k rounds or so.
This is the multi-reticle version as I prefer an EoTech-style reticle to the single dot, but wanted the flexibility to try the other reticles. Bought along with the Long Eye Relief 3x magnifier, and the ADM flip to side magnifier mount. I just very recently replaced it with a (much more $) variable 1-6x Leupold, but had a good experience with the PA. Ran a couple of 3 guns with it, a class, and various range time. I had one issue where I thought it might have lost zero, but it turned out to be my own fault - the mount loosened up, didn't put a dab of loc-tite on it or check it after initial mounting and zero-ing. The only negatives for me was lack of on-off switch, which would be preferable to having 'off' positions in between brightness settings (which it doesn't have, either). The emitter is fairly visible in the tube, but in practice/real use it's just not an issue. Weight adds up between the PAM3M, mount, magnifier + it's mount, but that's to be expected. Hard to beat for the $. |

I got the PA gen 2 red dot in today and I just mounted it and tried to zero based off of my iron sights, and the dot will not move, no matter how many turns of the adjustments...
any advice would be appreciated. Edit: I just had to turn them the complete opposite way and it got pretty close... for instance if the arrow is pointing left and it said up... I had to turn mine right and it would go up. |

I have a really stupid question
Is there a certain way to attach the foam sticky squares that came with the mount? I assume these are so the sight doesn't move in the mount. What are the torque specs for the mount? The 30mm red dot looks real nice so far. Can't wait to get it mounted when I finish my build! Thanks! |

We sell the mount separately and they are there if you have a undersized tube. 15-20 inch pounds for the ring screws. 30-35 for the mount. I like to use loc-tite anytime I mount a optic. |

This may be a dumb question but it's my first optic. When I shot it the other day the mount came loose. Do you use a wrench to tighten it? I made it as right as I could by hand. Thanks!
