A common misconception is that lumens are a measure of "brightness". Rather, lumens quantify total light output. This is demonstrated by the beam shots below. Both our standard Malkoff M60 LED Module and the M60F Flood LED Module are rated at 235 lumens. Notice how the Standard M60 produces a beam that is much more intense (brighter) than the M60F while the M60F illuminates a much larger area. While it is possible that the beam of the M60 might be "too bright" for a given application, the same 235 lumens of light from the M60F could provide the perfect amount of brightness in the same application. It is important to consider the beam pattern, not simply lumen-rating, when choosing the right flashlight for your mission. Hope this helps. Photos courtesy of Elzetta CZ.
