The RMR at 1.2oz is about as heavy as you want to go, especially is you’re using weaker ammo like the AE 40gr FMJ loads. Sorry, replied to the other guy while you were typing. I wouldn’t mess with cutting coils off the recoil spring as I imagine you’d end up with a pistol that would fail to strip rounds off the mag and failures to go into battery. Once I switched from a 2oz 508T to a 1.2oz RMR my Rock started working fine with and without the Spectre II on the end. Is the 507K a direct mount, as the 507c has a plate that goes with it adding to the weight? Yes, it is. Attached File Attached File |

The 507K is a direct mount. The plate adds .3 oz to the weight of the red dot and causes cycling problems with most of the red dots that weigh over 1 oz.

Would it be viable to mill an ounce out of the rock slide to offset the optic weight?

I do have a holosun 507C on the slide, but I don’t think it should make any difference because that’s one of the acceptable optics for that gun. Any ideas? I did not shoot the gun before I put the optic on it, so I can’t confirm how it shoots without the optic or less anybody has some better ideas that’s going to be the next test is remove the optic and see how it shoots then. This gun came to me used, and of course the seller indicated no issues when they sold it to me. I’m finally getting around to shooting it now and discovering the issues. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/2158/IMG_6705_jpeg-3102271.JPGhttps://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/2158/IMG_6706_jpeg-3102272.JPGhttps://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/2158/IMG_6707_jpeg-3102273.JPG View Quote Ended up sending in my 5.7 Rock and my extractor was replaced and the gun now runs excellent, even with an optic! I’m not sure how the bad/old extractor affected/slowed down the action, but I’m happy! Turn around time was 2 weeks and comms were great! |

Dumb question but is the optic already installed or do I have to install it?

Now a real killer, when he picked up the ZF1, would have immediately asked about the little red button on the bottom of the gun.

Be aware that the 12mm long m4 mounting screws included with all of the 407K and 507K sights are too long to Mount the sights on a Rock without them damaging the striker assembly when fully tightened down. They must be shortened to no longer than 10mm to clear the striker assembly.

Nope. You have to shorten the supplied 12mm M4 screws yourself. You can buy an M4 screw cutter on Amazon for $22 or can screw the screws into one of the 2 supplied red dot adapter plates supplied with the Rock. Secure the plate in a vice and carefully file down the threaded portion of the screw until the screw from the flat top to the bottom of the threads is 10mm in length. When you unscrew it from the plate it will repair any damage to the threads you may have caused during the shortening.

hey @palmettostatearmory Josiah, i noticed this thread almost at the bottom of page 1, do you think we can sticky this topic?
