Evidently the milling removes more weight than the cutouts. Thanks for your patience guys. |

Oops. I took out the striker housings in my slide to visually check that the Holosun screws I shortened did not extend past the slider's bosses. All's good. BUT, when I was reassembling everything I launched the slide cap plunger and striker spring into outer space. I found the slide cap plunger but the striker spring is still missing. When I went to PSA's website and clicked Gun Parts the Rock was no where to be found. How do I get a replacement striker spring?

I finally had a chance to handle a Rock this weekend. I think the Ruger grip fits me a little better but not enough to overcome the Ruger's shortcomings.
I think the Rock will find it's way onto my short list now. |
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I just quit Facebook's "Palmetto State Armory 5.7 Rock Official Group." I joined it thinking it was a place to learn things and to share info. I admit I'm a big fan of PSA's Rock. I posted that my Rock ran flawlessly on its first trip to the range. I've shown my Rock to a bunch of people and sang its praises. I believe that at least one individual purchased a Rock after I "showed it off" to them. A day ago I joined a friend as he brought his brand new Rock to the range. He was having issues. I tried to post a factual account of what his Rock was doing. All posts must be approved by the group moderator before they go public. Not only was my post deleted but I was warned that if I do this again I will be removed from the group. I did NOT bash PSA. In the grand tradition of Sargent Joe Friday, that posting was, "Just the facts, Ma'am." I guess only postings of Rainbows and Unicorns make it past the moderator. "Fair and balanced," not in my mind. OBTW, I still love my Rock.

Can you post the contents of your post here ? so we can see what it's doing?

I've been thinking about getting one with the threaded barrel to use my Silent-SR on. It would be better for critter control than my .22LR.

He put 150 rounds of Fiocchi Range Dynamic 40 gr through it. About 10% of the rounds didn't fire. This happened with rounds that were in the middle of the mag. They chambered but no boom when the trigger was pulled. The primers didn't have a mark on them. When these rounds were loaded back into a mag a second time they worked just fine. The primers on the rounds that fired were nicely imprinted by the striker. Several of the fired cases did not extract. It was inconsistent. |

My friend has contacted PSA and explained what's happening with his Rock. He is now waiting for their response. I offered to help him take the striker housing out of the slide, but he declined. He wants the PSA armorers to deal with it. I can understand that. Thanks.

My slide, barrel, mags and recoil assembly arrived today. Went together nicely.
Chose to buy individual upper parts opposed to a complete slide assembly, so I could have the silver finish SS barrel. Probably cost me about $40 more bucks in the end. Love it so far. The trigger is crisp, but heavy. Although it has already gotten better by dry firing. I tested 10 - 55 grain subs and 14 - 40 grainers. All ran perfect. Haven't started with a full mag yet. Plan to do a more formal shooting session next week. Attached File Attached File |

So I cleaned and re-assembled the gun and it seems to be working fine now at least with the upper I had with me. I ended up with like 4 Rock uppers because of all the sales I put 100 rounds of PSA 5.7 ammo through it today with only one malfunction, last round stovepipe which I will chalk up to break in of the brand new gun and mags. Great gun. Easy to shoot. Makes loud bangs. I am happy. |

Does anyone know the screw size for mounting the RMR adapter to the Rock slide?

It should be the same screws that mount the optic cut filler plate

Damn, Fiocchi 40GR FMJ 450rd case for $200
FIOCCHI RANGE DYNAMICS 5.7X28MM 40GR FMJ AMMUNITION 450rd CASE $200 I bought 2x450rd cases at $230 earlier this year and thought that would be as far as it drops, but I guess I was wrong. Might pick up a few more cases at this price point. |

I know the thread pitch/count 1/2-28 just wondering if this was one closer to a 22/9mm/rifle length on the thread length. I ran into a brand pistol with what looked like rifle length threads on the barrel and thread protector and was wondering what other lengths might be. Question partially has to do with suppressor use. |

I couldn’t find a holster that had everything I needed, so I made my own. Wish I had left a little more material over the trigger. Other than that I’m pretty happy with the results.

Any plans to offer slide or pistols with other optic footprints? I'd like to see a direct mount ACRO rock.

According to the specs it weighs 2.1 oz, far heavier than the max 1 oz recommended red dot max weight for the Rock.

Used PSA Rock Cycling Problems-
Outing 1-AE Red Box. Wouldn’t cycle rounds, (wouldn’t eject the empty). Hand cycled and repeat. Outing 2- AE red box. Added a dead air mask to hopefully help with back pressure? Same issue. Outing 3- Fiochhi and FN blue tip 197 ammo. Dead air mask used. Same issue. Double checked the seating of the recoil assembly and everything looks fine? Question- is the 2nd photo correct? It the pin in the recoil did supposed to be depressed and locked behind the lug or the recoil rod supposed to be sitting not so deep and the pin is supposed to be sticking out? I do have a holosun 507C on the slide, but I don’t think it should make any difference because that’s one of the acceptable optics for that gun. Any ideas? I did not shoot the gun before I put the optic on it, so I can’t confirm how it shoots without the optic or less anybody has some better ideas that’s going to be the next test is remove the optic and see how it shoots then. This gun came to me used, and of course the seller indicated no issues when they sold it to me. I’m finally getting around to shooting it now and discovering the issues. I would remove the optic and test. Then buy a 507K for it. That's not what you want to hear, but that is where I would start.

Optic off and then try with and without the can. The RMR at 1.2oz is about as heavy as you want to go, especially is you’re using weaker ammo like the AE 40gr FMJ loads. Sorry, replied to the other guy while you were typing. I wouldn’t mess with cutting coils off the recoil spring as I imagine you’d end up with a pistol that would fail to strip rounds off the mag and failures to go into battery. Once I switched from a 2oz 508T to a 1.2oz RMR my Rock started working fine with and without the Spectre II on the end. |
