Yeah, but not in stock. We shall see I just noticed in the product detail this - "Flat Top Receiver with Removable Carry Handle". I'm wondering if that's correct compared to Lipsey's "Carry handle not included", also I checked with Davidsons site they also stated that "Additional Features 1: Removeable Carry Handle". Are there going to be two versions one with the carry handle and one with the Magpul MBUS folding rear sight? I guess we'll find out when it's released. |
Is this going to be a limited edition or regular production item?
I'm guessing that's just a little artistic license on the part of whoever put the picture together. This pic from Shot Show was in the general AR Discussions thread Pictures of Colt's new AR15A4.

That's what I want... Has anyone see theses in the stores? Do they have the correct roll marks?
I also saw the model with the 11.5" barrel and 5.5" flash suppressor on the site the other day, but now I don't

I didn't notice, sorry...I just hope they didn't take it off their site because there won't be any now.

Colt just got a civie contract for 60,000 6920. So maybe fall 2013 or spring 2014... That's if they don't get any more contracts.

That is awesome! Going to put $ down on one tomorrow. Thanks to OP for posting - I hadn't seen it yet!
ETA: Done! BTW, they are in the print catalog that my LGS had, and also in the online "lo" catalog (http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/ColtRifles.aspx). What's weird is that those 2 catalogs are not the same thing. |
Very much doubt it as NYPD doesn't issue long guns to most cops (I mean very few) and they don't have anywhere near that many officers.

Getting the thread back on track....... Any news about the Colt AR-15a4 being released??

Seems to be selling:

Seems to be selling: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=344081694 View Quote It may be 100% Colt, but my guess is that it's a post-factory M16A4-gery. I don't think any of their current models have Restricted stamps, nor am I aware of any previous models that came stock with that configuration - Restricted stamps, Government profile barrel and flat-top upper. Of course someone will likely prove me wrong on that last statement. |
I have been wanting one of these since I saw Colt was going to produce them. It is very high on my list if Beretta doesn't get the ARX to market by the end of the year.

The picture of where the stock meets the receiver seems very telling to me. Not a shot I would take to sell the rifle. It screams they are purposefully missing the roll-mark. |

Any more update on the status of the A4? It'd be nice to see one before the end of the year.
It's been listed for months now, but never in stock as far as I have seen.
When we talked to the Colt guys at Shot Show (where an A4 was on display), they said they're pumping out rifles and carbines as fast as they can, but the pump out things that are not supply limited first and it sounded like the supply limitation was upper rail receivers and barrels. Sounded like they are going to go with a run of whatever they have the most parts for and/or most demand for, rather than try to build everything at once. |
Looks like the perfect rifle to mount that KAC forend I have laying around collecting dust.
I still have $ down from when I posted prevoiusly. Haven't heard a peep from my LGS on it.
I tried ordering one two weeks ago with a major Colt Distributor. The part number doesn't even exist. I guess I will find out what is happening in two months at SHOT.
The part # exists, problem is that Colt recently used it for a limited run of something else. My LGS was able to order one with some effort.
I do have good news too. At SHOT I actually was able to look at and shoot it. Additionally, they say that they have started shipping them, although only 200 had left the factory. The only bad news (for me) was that I shot the Tavor 100x better. |
I got a call yesterday that mine is waiting at my local LGS! IIRC I ordered it in July.
