Can anyone who can do this, try it?
Load a mag with a few rounds and chamber them, and manually eject them(carefully). Then look for any deformation or damage to the bullet case or bullet tips. Obviously do it in a safe place I got some noticeable damage to the ELD and the Berger. Did this using a LaRue mag. |

It’s crazy great, but I feel “bad” as I ordered another Gen II HD Vortex, so I’m “saving” money right now. I didn’t even know the fidget thing was a thing until I saw one of the ARFCOM spinners in a post. I ordered some and will probably be giving a couple away to a group of little birds. As to the trick shot thing, I’ve analyzed all my shot groups and data and I’m going to call the mothership. The rifle isn’t shooting as tight as it was, or as it should; two shots touching and a third a MOA off. Best to speak with the pros and see what advice they may have to offer. I was hoping to be able to hit the range this morning, but because UPS decided to deliver my 130 Berger AR Hybrids at 22:00 last night, I did not have a chance to load up some test ammo for this morning. Tomorrow will be my first PRS match with the LaRue .260, and I'm hoping that afterwards, if I'm not too tired, I will be able to shoot up the Bergers.
Loaded up 35 rounds, powder charges from 41.7-42.9 in .2 increments of Reloder 16. They measure 2.184 to the ogive in 1x fired Hornady brass. Brass shoulder was bumped back to 1.621 and trimmed to 2.026. CCI 200 primers. I'll put up some photos of the test target as soon as I'm able to shoot it. It's over 110 here in Las Vegas, so I'll be looking for pressure signs due to temp even though those loads should be under max for that caliber/bullet/powder combo. Also need to test fire the ammo I loaded in Lake City LR 308 brass necked down to 260. Lots of stuff to do this weekend. Currently at 169 rounds down the first 22" barrel, I'm thinking after this weekend it will be close to 350 total, so I'll probably break the rifle down and clean out the barrel Sunday evening. |

Lew at TBR actually recommends the long version for the tOBR but the 8.25 does fit. I used it to catch the rounds (above) with no issues although the design of the upper has the TBR extending out just a tad further than I suspect was designed. The front "stop" is the culprit contacting the upper and leaving just a smidge of a gap back at the deflector. I'm sure it will work just find and will give it a try this weekend (hopefully). Getting close to 10,000 and I have no good ideas so I might just blow by and say sayonara to 10K. |

I cycled some more rounds and this time they came out fine. Super strange that I cycled several rounds right in a row and they were damaged, I'll have to watch for it to happen.
I'm going to go send some rounds tomorrow as long as it isn't 120 again. |

D3 that is good info. I inspected the extension area when I noticed. I am wondering if some of these rounds were previously handled. The boxes looked to have been on a shelf at a gun store with people opening them.
Not sure if they were dropped or what but the tips on the ELD were easily chipped. I grabbed a new box and hand cycled all 20 of them, and ejected them on to carpet, no damage from this box. Also, I did not see any other markings or issue. With the Berger/Gorilla combo I saw some tip deformation on the two rounds I tried after the ELDs. Looks like a high of 115 degrees today, not sure I am gonna shoot in that, but who knows |

Took the 260 out 200-800 yards again in about a 20 mph crosswind and it only took a touch over 1.5 mils hold to hit the 800. The 223's were having to hold 3.5 mils at 500. Only missed a couple shots in those intense wind conditions. Can't wait to really stretch its legs to 1000+

Off to Quantico, hopefully for a long-range day. You never know as the ranges are next to each other and since you can't shoot behind anyone in an adjacent range, you could be limited to the guys one range over.

I'll give my weekend update too, as I had lots of issues and frustrations. I went out Friday afternoon to test my Berger 130 AR Hybrid loads in 1x Hornady brass and my 140 Nosler CC loads that I made using necked-down .308 brass. My results were less than spectacular. The Berger loads were all over 1MOA, some getting close to 2MOA. Frustrated, I ran a few rounds of Hornady 130 ELD-M factory ammo through the gun, and it shot like garbage too. I was puzzled, because the Hornady ammo had consistently been 1/2" at 100 yards prior to that session. I pulled out a KAC SR-25 I had with me a put 3 rounds into .286" just to make sure that I didn't suddenly forget how to pull a trigger. Frustrated, I packed my stuff up and went home.
At that point I had 209 rounds down the tube, so I took the gun apart and cleaned the barrel pretty thoroughly. While cleaning it I remembered that I had installed a H3 buffer in it since the last range session, so I am unsure if that had any impact in my huge loss of accuracy. With the gun shooting well over 1MOA at that point I was a little stressed out since I had a precision rifle match on Saturday morning at 07:30. I cleaned the gun, reinstalled the factory H2 buffer, and packed all my gear for the following day. I also packed a SR-25 in .308 just in case.... I arrived at the range at 06:00 in order to put a few rounds through the tube to see if cleaning it out and/or going back to the H2 buffer brought the rifle back in line with how it should be shooting. Sure enough, the rifle went back to putting the factory ELD-M into nice little 1/2MOA groups. I also shot another series of Berger loads, and they looked a lot better than they did the day before, but they still aren't where I want them. 42.9gr of Reloder 16 put me right at 2820fps with an SD of 10 and they hovered around 3/4". I'm hoping I can tighten that up just a tad once I play with seating depth. I shot the match with the LaRue, and I ended up taking 5th. I made a few mental mistakes and had one gear issue that kept me out of the top 3, which is what I was hoping for. The rifle shot well though, and I'm very excited to run it again next weekend at our yearly night PRS match. There are multiple advantages to running a gasser in PRS-type matches, and the LaRue .260 sure kicks the shit out of my .308 gas guns that I'm used to running. I'll be engaging targets out to 1700+ yards, so I'm really hoping I can nail down a load with the Berger 130 AR Hybrids, as they outperform every other 130-class bullet significantly out at distance. I did decide after shooting the match Saturday morning that I'll be ordering a TriggerTech "Adaptable" 2-stage trigger with the flat trigger shoe. I really like their triggers, and have them in both of my match bolt guns. Nothing against the LaRue trigger, but it's hard to run a 4.5lb trigger when you're used to shooting triggers in the 1.5-2lb range. No pictures from the weekend, my normal shooting/photography buddy didn't make it out to the range with me, but he should be out snapping photos and taking video next weekend. I'll update again later this week on how the Bergers are doing. I also loaded a set of ammo using IMR 4451, which I've had great success in using for my 6.5Creedmoor bolt gun. |

I have a box of 500, I'll stock up on them if they perform as good or better than the 140 Hybrids. View Quote My old go to 130gr 6.5 round is over $.40 a bullet but has a BC over .6 as well. That's gonna hurt picking up a case or two of 500. |
