Sorry to bring this one back up, but I have received my sling and OBR sling adapter. Both seem really nice, but I had a few questions that maybe someone could give me advice on. So in the back I have it mounted to the RAT stock. In the front, I was going to mount this to the left hand side all the way back closest to the receiver, but the lever will not allow the adapter to fit here. It also seems that this adapter will not fit in just one GAP panels space. For most places where this can be mounted, two GAP panels would need to be removed, which I don't want to do. This got me wondering which spot is best to mount this. I've been trying to research this and it seems there is no best spot. So here are my questions:
1) What are the positive and negative of mounting it either all the way to the front or rear?
2) Why don't people mount this on the bottom? Is it okay to mount here.
3) Does the orientation matter. Most pictures I have seen, everyone has the socket orientated rearward. Any reason for this. It seems I would only have to remove 1 GAP panel if I reversed orientation in certain areas.
I have been researching this and it seems a lot of people have gone with the Fortis RAP mount to resolve the problem. Other people have shaved off parts of the GAP panels to allow only 1 panel to be removed.
I realize I can just put it on there and play with it to get a feel for it, but was kind of wanting to see what the positives and negatives of the placement are.
Thanks
