Please visit our facebook page for more information: http://www.facebook.com/LBJWarriorEvent I am pleased to anounce that Lyndon Nugent and his team have graciously offered the LBJ Ranch near Fredericksberg TX to host six wounded warriors from the Vietnam war to present for fellowship and hunting...AGAIN! Six fine Americans will be part of the 2nd Warrior Hunt at LBJ Ranch. Last years event was amazing! So amazing in fact that we decided to do it again. Warrior Hunt at LBJ Ranch (Archives) New for this year: We will be taking two ar15.com members! Who? I don't know, that is up to you guys!!! If you would like to go (or nominate someone), please submit a short bio of your military experience to include disability / wounds sustained in combat. Also, a short statement of why you, or someone you are nominating, would like to attend the hunt at LBJ Ranch on December 5-7, 2014. Email submissions to [email protected] and don't forget to include your screen name! These will be compiled and submitted in anonymous format for our selection board. The two candidates selected will be flown, driven, or otherwise transported to the ranch. YOU PAY NOTHING! About us...we are a group of Wounded Warriors ourselves! After spending time in the Warrior Transition Unit our team decided there was no better way to maintain the brotherhood we had become accustomed to in the military. This annual hunt is our chance to give back to people who were hurt in combat. The volunteers that help out in this event are crucial to its success and we are thankful for the fine folks who have stepped up again this year! We are NOT a non-profit group. We are just Wounded Warriors taking other Wounded Warriors out for fellowship and healing. 100% of the donations given will be going towards the weekend hunt. Food, supplies, meat processing, taxidermy, and travel are things we would like to provide for these six guests. We are proud of our Warriors and appreciative of their sacrifices, please help us show them our deep gratitude. Thank you! |

Our First Confirmed ar15.com Candidate: DAVID HUTCHINSON aka "HUTCH"
This candidate will be attending the Warrior Hunt at LBJ Ranch on Dec. 5-7, 2014 Hutch was serving as a MK19 gunner in the third gun truck when suddenly they were ambushed by determined Anti-Afghan Forces (AAF). Approximately 15-20 AAF opened fire with an arsenal of rocket propelled grenades, PKM machine guns, and AK-47s. <snip> unit was also being attacked by sniper rifles hidden in the surrounding Afghanistan mountains approximately 50 to 70 meters away. The AAF fighters were bold in their efforts to destroy the convoy by attempting to disable the lead and trail gun trucks with RPGs. Three of the four trucks immediately engaged in combat returning suppressive fire. Being the aggressors, the AAF moved from cover into the open to engage the gun trucks under devastating fire provided by Hutch and his fellow soldiers. The AAF had fire superiority until Hutch quickly assessed the PKM machine gun nest on top of a hill. This position was most lethal to Hutch and his fellow soldiers in the convoy. His fire was so effective in disrupting the AAF's efforts to destroy the convoy that they began focusing their wrath specifically on him and his MK19. Hutch stayed in his position under intense fire, placing accurate effective fire on the remaining enemies with total disregard for his own life. Members of his unit later counted well over 100 bullet strikes on his turret. Hutch expended an entire ammo can destroying a fixed machine gun position and killing no less than five enemy insurgents before he was seriously wounded by a RPG that entered the crew compartment of his M1151 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle. Shrapnel from the RPG hit his right leg and caused him to collapse from his gunner position into the crew compartment. After collapsing from his wounds, Hutch observed that his First Sergeant was severely injured with gaping shrapnel wounds to the face and head. With total disregard for his own serious injuries and his right leg going numb, he calmly administered first aid to his First Sergeant. His actions controlled the bleeding as the convoy proceeded out of the engagement area. When the MEDEVAC arrived, despite his own serious wounds, Hutch refused to be carried on a litter so that others could carry the wounded First Sergeant. This act freed other soldiers to provide security and reduced the time the MEDEVAC spent on the ground. Hutch was medically evacuated out of Afghanistan with a serious leg injury after being in theater only a week. His actions contributed to the safety of 16 soldiers and showed extraordinary courage, loyalty and selfless-service under fire beyond expectation. |

Our Second Confirmed ar15.com Candidate: shadow4golf
This candidate will be attending the Warrior Hunt at LBJ Ranch on Dec. 5-7, 2014 My name is <snip>. I'm 44 years old. I was medically retired by the Army in 2010 and my retirement status was updated from Temporary to Permanent in 2013. My military service began with the Louisiana National Guard in 1986. I attended OSUT at Ft Knox for 19D 'Armored Reconnaissance Specialist' from July 1987 to November 1987. I served 7 years with HHC 1/156AR in Shreveport, LA. My Brigade, the 256 Infantry BDE, was mobilized for Operation Desert Shield/Storm from November 1990 to May 1991. I served a total of 7 years and reached the rank of Sergeant. In 2004, friends of mine who were still serving in the Louisiana National Guard got warning orders for deployment to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Another friend and co-worker enlisted to become an Infantryman. They were my friends and I could not sit back. I sought out a recruiter and began the process of returning to uniform. On 24 August 2004, I reported (again) to Ft Knox KY for OSUT as a 19D Cavalry Scout. The personnel clerk, having my records in front of him, moved me from OSUT and changed my status to 'retrain'. I spent a month at Ft Knox Reception Battalion thanks to that guy. :-/ First week of December 2004, I was assigned to HHC 2d Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division as a Private First Class. I was 35 years old. 1 year later and coincidentally 15 years after I was mobilized for Operation Desert Shield, I was in Iraq. At this point, I was assigned to a gunner position, both on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and Humvees. We spent our year mostly at FOB Kalsu, with some time spent at FOB Echo near Diwaniyah. We worked route denial operations, security operations, force projection, observation and interdiction and as the BN quick reaction force...but not all at once. Upon returning to the states, my medical problems began. I had two surgeries to correct nerve damage in one foot, a surgery to correct nerve damage in an arm and was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease in both my lumbar and cervical spinal areas among other things. After attempting to reclass into a less physically demanding MOS via the MOS Medical Review Board. Their recommendation that I be moved into a less physically demanding MOS was overruled by a General who stated that due my physical limitations, there was no MOS in which the Army had a need that I would be capable. After that my case was moved to the Medical Evaluation Board. The Medical Evaluation Board got reports of physical fitness, health and mental wellness and the Army determined that my limitations precluded continued service with the US Army. Again, I'd worked my way up through a Scout PLT from PFC to SGT and again, I was out of the Army. |

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Last years Hunt was a beyond description success for our Wounded Warriors and the Gold Star Young Man (Father was killed in Afghanistan). That success can be directly attributed to this amazing forum and the generous donations we received from you. You can tell a lot about a person by where they spend their money - and, you proved to rise to the occasion and have Servant Hearts. Deep thanks! We humbly ask your support again this year! Huge positive impacts were made on last years participants. They were blown away by the generosity of all people concerned. They are coming back again this year in a volunteer capacity to support this miraculous event of fellowship and camaraderie. We will have the five new Warriors and a Gold Star Child again this year. Please consider supporting us by donating whatever you feel is right. God bless each of you for supporting such a wonderful cause again this year. Thankfully, Freedom Care Warrior Project will be able to issue a Tax Receipt to you for any donations made (to include Gift-in-Kind donations). Respectfully and in Deep Appreciation for your Support, Rex Vehrs RLTW!! Do Good! |

Wow! This event is going to be great!
Donations total: $3321.75 We expect that this years hunt will be even better than last years. We are using some of the donation money to purchase exotics as the ones taken last year were valued at $17,000!!! We cannot and will not allow LBJ Ranch to do that every year. I can't wait to see how this thing turns out. Those of you who have donated, thank you sincerely! Those who have submitted stories for selection, thank you dearly! I need more submissions from arfcom! This is not a tax write-off hunt...this is you coming with me to a ranch to freaking kill something! Let's get this thing rolling! |
