"So exactly what was it you guys made, boxed, and shipped for those 3 years during that "internet boom of the 90s" ?
As for the replacement barrels, the return rate for the first batch requested back thus far is 20%. Much like the lower bring-back was, looks like it's going to be a grind to get them back for rebarreling and proof-grouping. " Quoted from ML on the other "I'm Worn Out Thread" Looks like some people are getting the call to send in their rifle to be re barreled. I assume that means they are starting with PredatARs and OBRs then, since the PredatOBRs would just be getting a barrel sipped to them. |

Did we ever figure out the twist in the field grade barrels? Is it 11.25 or 10?

I am also one of the few owners of a Tar 18" 5.56 Field Grade barrel.

So are replacement MG barrels being done right now? If so, what profile and length is currently being worked on?

to get back to the point of this thread-sure would like to get a match grade barrel
|

I know I haven't received a call yet to get my TOBR MG barrel. Looks like I will have to reread the "I'm worn out" thread to get an update.....

*BUMP*
Let's hear from some of those 20% 'ers ML mentioned in the "I'm worn out" thread. Who's had the call for replacement of a FG barrel? Good luck and good shooting, Tommy |
|
Does anyone have the thread bookmarked where ML mentioned that we would be able to choose barrel length when the time came? I thought I did but can not find it now.
|

Nice stick and great shooting. Did you ever determine how much weight you shaved off with the dimpling?
|
|
|
Quoted:
Nope. Never got any feedback on pre-work weight. Dimpling didn't seem to affect the barrel at all except shave a bit of weight. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

View Quote No one has this thread bookmarked? I wish I would have because, if I remember correctly, it was not a thread about the FG replacement barrels but the discussion turned toward barrel replacement and Mark added the tidbit that we would be able to choose what barrel length we wanted whenever the time came. Hopefully that is still the case when my number comes up. Thanks |

Doesn't seem so. Sold my FG so I hope I get the MG soon so I can shoot the rifle again...

Ditto, but like others have said, At least our field grade barrels shoot very well. |

I'd be more than happy to wait with my 18" FG barrel if Mark would let me purchase a short hand guard and request a 14.5 MG barrel.
I have not had the greatest success with 168's or 175's but this FG really likes the Hornady A-Max 155's and 168's. |

Any reports of replaced FGs? I'm at 10 months, waiting on a replacement for an 18" 5.56 PredatAR bbl. Good Luck and Good Shooting, Tommy |

Ive had houses built and made little humans in less than 1yr. But i guess making barrels truly is rocket science. I'm reasonably optimistic at this point. ML's prediction of being caught up by the first of the year leads me to believe it's going to be sooner rather than later. In the meantime the FG is pretty impressive imop. I also picked up a 556 OBR in June and ordered a 556 tOBR on 1/31/14 # 1764xx that I've gotta splain to the wife when it gets here. |

My problem is the same as it has always been. If the barrels don't ship after they are caught up or reasonable so, then we are all stuck with a rifle that is significantly less valuable than the ones with the standard grade because nobody will believe that we are ever going to get a normal barrel. Try selling a tOBR with ONLY the field grade and no reasonable assurance that the buyer will ever get the standard one, why would they buy it from you?
|
|
Mark said that Match Grade barrel requests have started going out. Check your email, check your junk/spam folders, answer your phones when 512 area code calls. Dont need to slow this process down like the lower ban requests.

I don't understand why it is Un American or un Larue to simply inquire @ when one might receive the quality barrel(match grade)-that was supposed to be part of the rifle they bought in the first place. If some people are satisfied with the field grade, first kiss it,and secondly contact Larue tell them how good it shoots, and that you are satisfied with it to take you off the list for the match barrel.
That way-those of us who want the match barrel can move up on the list. |
