looks brand new...good job
just picked mine up and it looks like I got the last one...which I did so I guess thats what I get for missing before someone cancelled. Its not bad but all the grip screws are rusty and beat up so I'll replace those. The grip is sticky and dirty so will see if cleans up if not replace that to. It has crossed out electro stenciled numbers in a few places and more stenciled numbers in other places so its def not pretty and then its pretty beat up from lots of use. I think it can clean up nicely though and it feels great in the hand. I am not as saavy as many of you with the fixing up so I guess we will see. |

Ordered one of the latest P228s.
Didn't see a handpick option. That means they are all in tip top shape right?

Just an update after the trip to NH... Post service (Full clean and maintenance with new sights, short reset trigger install, I think they refinished the slide even though I didn't expect/pay for it.) http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk163/zeus2you/IMG_20150716_150703_929_zpsgrvlee3f.jpg Sig smiths mentioned that the frame was "severely worn" so that was disappointing but I can't say I was terribly surprised. Next up is hopefully a trip to CCR for a full refinish. Even if that doesn't add anything to the life left she'll be prettier just sitting around. Of the 10-15 used things I've picked up from AIM over the years this is the first time I didn't feel like I got way more value than I paid for, but like grandpa always said pay your money and you take your chance. I'm not crying too much especially since the Beretta 83 that came on the same order looked nearly brand new. View Quote That does look like a refinished slide, maybe mine should go in too ! I didn't detail the other parts of the Service Package, but also in the return box was a baggie of the parts they replaced which included all the springs, firing pin, grip screws and worn out sights. So basically coming back everything inside was brand new and the old standard sights were upgraded to night sights.
For $190 which included FedEx 2 day shipping both ways and basically a week door to door I couldn't expect better service. Also the folks that answer the phones are super friendly. Sorry to sound like a promo for Sig, but working with vendors in the IT industry and being in the midst of SBR paperwork with the ATF it was refreshing to deal with something that wasn't a Kafkaesque experiment in misery... |

The rails will tell you everything that you need to know about how well the gun has been taken care of. The following is how the colors of the under side of the frame rails will change as your gun wears. Dull Black – No wear, perfect finish. Shiny Black – Slight wearing in of the pigment in the anodizing, this is normal after around 200 rounds. Dark Gold/Orange – The pigment in the anodizing is starting to wear, this is perfectly normal and not a problem, the metal is still protected and your frame is still perfectly viable. Most guns reach this phase between 2,000 and 4,000 rounds. Bright Gold – The pigment in the anodizing is wearing in. Your frame is still protected and your gun is still perfectly viable. Most guns reach this phase and remain static from here on out as long as proper lubrication is used. Light Gold – The pigment in your anodizing is wearing through, your frame is still protected, but you should keep an eye on it. Shiny Silver – This is where you need to start to worry. The pigment in the anodizing is worn through, your frame is still protected, but you need to monitor your frame rails very closely and make sure they remain greased thoroughly for the rest of your gun’s life. Dull Silver – You’re screwed. Your anodizing has worn completely through in the areas you see dull anodizing. From here on your frame is unprotected and it’s time to buy a new gun. It may still shoot and function perfectly, but your frame rails will continue to wear at a much accelerated rate." Parts of mine are somewhere in the light gold area. Im conflicted as to what do to because I plan on putting lots of bullets down range. Im already $100 in for new mags and rubber grips. $200 on refinishing and $200 more for a sig checkup doesnt make sense to me. Its probably sell-able at my cost but thats no fun. Maybe trade for a race gun. In good news the Jericho 941FS is SOLID! Just a weird issue with the lanyard loop. And a little visitor to my neighbor last night. Woohoo snagged one! :-) Here .40 is the caliber for most LEO agencies. More and more are headed back toward 9mm. I prefer .40 but it's a gammer thing. I can load it for Major and Minor. When people started hoarding I could find .40 easier too. I tend to pick up LEO trade in M&Ps and most are .40. I am starting to go to 9mm for lots of practice when I don't have time to make ammo.

Picked up the 2340.... looks great condition but dim sights. Considering these things came out in what 1998 they look great. The DA is very manageable. thought about converting it to DA/SA but it'd cost about 200 in parts... With the three mags and being .40 it'll make a great truck gun at this price.
I'd put these polymers above the old stamped all metal sigs. The internal frame rails are MASSIVE solid design. Short reach trigger is an easy and cheap swap. All mags stuffed with 180GR rangers and just need to find a cheap serpa like holster to bolt under the seat frame. |
