I bought a stainless .22 conversion last year and have a little over 1,000 rounds through it. Clean and lube every 200-300 rounds. Virtually no failures since I bought it. Last month, I shot about 100 rounds in a .22 match, no failures. Cleaned and oiled it.
This week I took it out it and near 100% failures. Round would fire, case ejected, but the hammer was not cocked. Trigger in rear position. Occasionally, the fired case would not eject. In either case, I would use the charging handle to feed another round. Again, it would fire, but not work the bolt back enough to reset the hammer.
Took it home for a good cleaning. Same problems. Tried another lower, no difference.
I was using Federal copper-plated from a 550 round box. I would have thought the problem was low-powered ammo, but I have fired about 200 rounds from the same box and no problems. I tried some Remington Golden Bullets, same result as the with the Federal.
If the failures started gradually, I could understand. But the rifle suddenly went from 99.5% to 0%
Any ideas?
