Bravo Company continues to introduce new stuff for the AR world.
New to the lineup are two items- a new vertical foregrip and a hand stop.
The first is the BCMgunfighter KAG, a handstop to retard the rearward motion of your hand. This permits a greater consistency of your support side hand, and with the influx of AR pistols, it seems to be a good fit.
There are two versions- the KAG KeyMod, and the KAG 1913 Picatinny Rail version.
The KAG weighs 2.875 ounces, and sells for $17.95.
I have never been a fan of handstops, as I like the versatility the VFG gives me. Some people love it of course, and I have this on one of my AR pistols.
The second is the BCMgunfighter Vertical Grip Mod 3, also with the same two mounting options.
The Mod 3 does not have the trap door of the original BCM Vertical Grip. This saves a tiny bit in weight, and lowers the cost to about half of the original.
From my perspective, I haven’t ever carried anything in the rifle grip, vertical foregrip or a plethora of stocks.
The thought was attractive, and without a doubt some have actually used them for something.
The first time I saw this was around 1959 in a Popular Mechanics article about the AR-15.
It had a drawing of the rifle with bipods and such, and showed three rounds of 5,56 carried in the rifle grip.
I thought that was pretty dumb then, and carrying loose ammo therein is probably still the result of a visit by the good idea fairy…
Either version weighs appx 1.875 ounces
All of the above are secured by a Torx screw. I have a #15 Stanley Fat Max, and that was appropriate.
As always, the mission drives the gear train. There is an almost bewildering amount of AR parts and accessories. Some is excellent, most are at least good, and some just plain suck.
Find what fits your requirements, and buy the best you can.
Then seek the best training you can.
And after that, train some more…
