You will have to ask BCM about that. I only shoot guns... Understatement of the century! BCM is very clever to let certain key players try a prototype and improve upon their feedback. Can't wait for this! We have been evaluating Bravo Company guns for the past six years. We have the ability to get a lot of rounds downrange, personally as well as enlisting the help of our students. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it... |
|
Yeah... tough...
Seriously though, I'm glad BCM is run by a guy that seeks out quality instructors to beta test his new ideas. |

Need to get this released please. i need something to replace a few alphas that are jgonna get chopped up and scrapped. the sooner thr better.

What's the diameter of this rail? Looks a bit more than an NSR.

I believe I mentioned that 2x in this thread.
Unsure how you can measure anything from these pics, but it is 1.5" |

It's obviously not an accurate means of measurement just a guestimation. Thank you for your post. I apologize if I have upset you. I went back and you did post once about the diameter. Not looking to be scolded by Pat Rogers just excited about the rail and missed a post a few pages back. Thanks for the information I do appreciate it. |

I just wave my arms and tell people what to do at class.
Otherwise, I just press triggers. Sorry! |

Hey Pat who takes your pictures?
Any idea what kind of camera they're using? |

I take all of my own pics.
I use several Nikons, the rail pics were made with a D40 |

Oh god please tell me they will have an upper with a LW 14.5 barrel and this. On a side note doesn't Noveske make little plastic tabs for there nsr rail that covers it and keeps your hand away from rail? Hopefully this rail will fit those or bcm will make some or there own for it.
On a side note, Pat- i'm a little worried about the durability of something that lite and thin. I'd be afraid that you could easily bang it on a corner to hard and would leave a dent on it. Has it held up well doing Shoot houses(if you happened to take it into one) and general rough and tumble of classes and lugging it where wherever you go to teach? |
|
We haven't used it in the SH yet- next scheduled one is in October.
We have used it in class, and yeah, I have thrown it around, but not with the intention of breaking it. So, no issues, and I don't anticipate any. |

Yes there will be an assortment of accessories to go with the rail (not mentioning what those are at this time due to DESSEC) We know this will be a great success due the fact of the quality and design of the BCM KEYMOD not to mention this rail and its accessories are designed by the Creator of KEYMOD who now is R&D lead at BCM. In preparation to that success and the growing popularity with other manufactures manufacturing KEYMOD we already have a light mount line that compliments: THORNTAIL KEYMOD |

Soo how about magnesium buffer tubes as well to balance things out? I know you're gonna be rich from my idea, but I'm humble.
|
|
I did a little research last night ( because who needs to sleep before work right). And i would put my money on it be 6069 T6 Aluminum Magnesium alloy. This would "newer" alloy is 40% stronger then 6061 t6. Which can still be anodized and and has the same corrosion resistance of 6061. (Which btw 6061 is what alot of uppers and lowers are made of.) This is probably how they shaved the weight down.
