I have more than enough factory AUG mags to last me a couple lifetimes... But I'm a sucker for all things MagPul - I'll probably grab a couple when released. Too bad they won't be as cheap as the AR mags but that's the way it goes sometimes.

The advantage of the MapPul version of the AUG mag is it should be less susceptible to round-jump that can sometimes happen when slamming a conventional AUG mag home. I had that happen to me once. Top round popped off and jumped all the way out the ejection port, so wouldn't have a caused a jam (that time), but it was disconcerting to see happen. Of course, this only happens in competition - never at home with no-one around. As far as I can tell, this is only a factor when slamming a full mag home on an open bolt, and not an everyday thing - but I was warned it can happen, and it did.
This is actually one of the key criteria for Australia's contract with MagPul (as far as I can tell). The MagPul mags should be of stiffer construction, and more resilient to this. My intention is that even though I have a bunch of AUG mags, I'll get a small number of PMags, and use those as reload mags in things like 3-gun. I only wish they were clear, since the window isn't nearly as handy as a fully clear construction - I have found.
It is for this reason that I have been impatient about the rather lengthy delay in the release. I know they don't start their morning brief's with "how can me make sure Lazy's happy?" but hey, an occasional reminder sometimes can help!
