One thing I'm curious about. The Gen 1 Gen 2 PMags can occasionally crack if dropped just wrong. We've all seen the pictures. It's not common, but possible - not dissing the PMags, a GI mag is likely to suffer damage under such abuse as well. If it does happen, this has always been a non-issue in AR's, because the tight magwell holds the mag together anyway, and it'll feed and function fine while you finish out your day. In the AUG, the magwell is different. Supposedly the new Gen 3 has a better polymer and more resilient to that failure mode anyway. so this is mostly academic, but a thought to ponder...
Actually, now that I think about it, this isn't an issue. Because AUG magwells DO have a tight form fitting section, right at the top. So even if you did figure out to crack a thick walled Gen 3 (I'd like to see someone try that), it should still function just as well as a cracked one does in an AR, for the same reasons.
Hell, I may actually purposely try to test this - assuming these things ever show up!
