You'd be surprised how fast you can get something to market when you don't have to do any R&D on the product I'll happily take an american made product that's going to LAST a long time for $100 vs. a chinese pos that will last 19 days before needing a replacement that cost me $17. |
|
Yet another example of a market vacuum. Develop a superior product, but fail to get it to market in a timely manner, and someone WILL fill the need.
Just another "benefit" of the global economy. |

Y'all need to simmer down. This year is going to be different in terms of us talking about product before it's ready. ARFcom is the primary reason for this new approach.
Those things are shit compared to what our final product will be. Hang in there. |

I didn't mean to imply Magpul is taking their sweet time with this topic - I can totally appreciate not releasing something until it is just right. Your companies reputation for reliability has created quite some anticipation over the MBUS... I just wanted to make sure no one was going to buy blind and end up with a set of fakes. I sure hope your new policy won't leave us devoid of any teasers though I can understand the reasoning for a shorter heads up. I saw Stickmans new photos on WEVO regarding the MBUS, they look real good. Can't wait to see how they hold up to the pickup truck |

Having just moved back from living in Japan for 3 years! It amazed me how quick they are on getting the airball products to market! It used to be airballos would buy the more expensive 'Real Steel' parts and modify the gun to fit them. Now the airball replicas cost the same or in some cases even more than the real steel pieces! Guns included, As for MagPul, for a few years in Asia (In Japan at least) air ball shops sold only Genuine MagPul Kit out of respect for the company and it's reputation. But with Demand driving the greed behind the supply and on several occasions sent items back because they were not As Advertised MagPul / MagPul PTS Products; And that's from retailers Inside the U.S.! It's A Sick, Sad World,,,, |

I hope Magpul could atleast afford 16 year olds in Taiwan. |

The real MBUSs are not out to the public yet, but a Chinese company has released photos of their own retail version that will retail at $17 a pair. Thought I would share this with you folks given the highly anticipated 'release' could potentially leave someone with a pair of Chinese fakes. These aren't labelled with PTS either making me believe they were made without consent from Magpul though I could be wrong. http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/995/acmmbus1012ke5.jpg Just wanted to make sure none you end up with a pair of Chinese fakes when you finally see 'MBUS' results on eBay or other retailers. [/Heads up: xxxxxxx's been cloned.] One of the reasons the MBUS has taken a bit longer to make is the original design had some major issues to overcome. Which we did through testing and development. These sites are based upon the MBUS prototypes we showed at SHOT so they will still have the issues we mentioned before. |

ETA: Would also love to get my hands on some lime green and blue PMags like the ones in the '08 catalog. |

wow! glad I saw this thread since I would have just jumped on them at any gunshow.

Those things are shit compared to what our final product will be. Hang in there. But you can't kill the gift horse. Arfcom is probably the best advertising dollars ever spent, it is relatively inexpensive to become a industry partner, and with the traffic on this site, between the trolls, diehards, JBT's, armchair commando's, the %1 true warriors, your prodcuts have been given the all the hype they need to succeed. With that said, like other companies that have gain popularity, and grew significantly in size over the past 2 years, I believe arfcom was great investment for magpul. Hell people are paying 35-40 bucks for pmags, when cost dealer/leo cost is 12.80 per.. The product has gained the popularity and credibility. So turn out some BUIS that don't cost 250 for a set. Give us some slings, BAD, and the microfiche with who really killed JFK. Although the homemade porn videos made at area 51 will be suffice. NTSC or PAL. Love from the 3rd Coast. |

Pretty fucking shitty to say the least.
I've seen the "airsoft" houses crawling all over manufacturers tables at trade shows, some even have the balls to take measurements right there. Everyone knows things get bought on the open market and shipped to China so they can make copies but when they start planning the fakes right there in front of the parent company it's the ultimate slap in the face. Fuck 'em. |
|
who cares, thats the nature of a free market. Either magpul will make a product thats of superior quality and function or they wont, I love my magpul stuff and it works great, but my leapers flip up sights do work just as well as ones costing 3x as much with little to tell in terms of quality. There is a sizable profit being made off all gun parts, far more than the 15% considered reasonable in many industries. So either american manufacturers will adapt to this world economy or they will fail.
the only way to change this course is to halt the advance of the world economy or tarriff imports to be equal cost. The reality is that many knockoffs come off the same production lines as the real items. |

Not true, atleast i know with the japanese. They'll build whatever level of quality you want into a product. Which is why a ton of glass comes from Japan, you want crappy glass for a scope, they'll build it, you want glass to compete with germany, they'll do it. How much quality do you want to pay for? |

Got to play with a MBUS the other day. It, along with an MOE foregrip, MIAD, and CTR were mounted on a S&W M&P15A that some lucky bastard bought.
I'm loving that new MOE foregrip. :D |

Understood, Again, I should Have Clarified On The Quality Of "Copies!" And Not That Of Officially / Contracted Out Sourced or "Foundried" Product(s) Where The Owner Of The Company IP Has Strict Guidelines / Protocols On Manufacturing And Quality Control. Ensuring The Final Product Is Built As Specified To The Engineering Prints Of The Originating Inventor / Owner And Does Not Fall Outside The Min / Max Tolerances Of Dimensions, Materials, Finish And Appearance! If I May I'd Would Cite The Recent Counterfeit UBR And Even Though It Is Very Close. The Quality Just Isn't Up To What The Genuine Officially Licensed Products Are! Then There Are The Un-Witting Consumers Such As Yourself and Me That Purchase Said Counterfeits In Good Faith With Our Hard Earned Money! Not Only Is It Wrong But It Is Criminal As Well. Even More So Should The Sub Standard Item Be Used Anyone Who Chooses To Go Into Harms Way On Our Behave. Only To Suffer The Dire Consequences Once The Item(s) Fails,,, |

No Argument Here, I Respect Harrymp5's Views And Am Only Trying To Be Clear That I Meant "Un-Authorized Clones / Copies!" Which I Did Not Communicate Well In My First Response! Harrymp5's Statement Is Accurate In The Fact That Many, Many Corporations Produce In China. There Is A Huge Population There, Hence Huge Opportunity For Revenue. Building Manufacturing Plants In China Removes Many Of The Import / Export Red Tape And Brings A Larger Number Of Consumers To The Register Clamoring For Product. Everybody Wins,,,, |

The issue is that we have some contracts that need to be filled prior to filling dealer orders and putting the item on our web site.. Hundreds daily? I believe it. But we know they have done deals with Noveske and S&W, and they have to fulfill those contracts before they can even start shipping to Brownells (or any other dealer, let alone us). I am sure they are on a serious time crunch on those contracts. Crunch, as in, pre-ordered rifles waiting to ship out of manufactures doors just as soon as they get an MBUS slapped on them. On another note, Thank You Rich, for letting us know that they have been OFFICIALLY RELEASED! That means there are no production delays, and no last miute hold ups. We are just waiting for those contracts to be filled. Don't you all see? Our "pre-orders" just became offical backorders. That is progress! |
