If the command has a full-time professional career counselor this is a major fuck-up. His or her single job is taking care of the young guys like you who need guidance and help getting what's best for them.  If you CC is worthless reach out to a near-by command's for help. Tell them what happen and find out if it's too late but as was mentioned above you're outside your window now. The service plans 6-12 months in advance who's going where and you might already be caught up in the gear train.

This happened to me coming out of my first school. I graduated top of my A school class ~120 guys ... actually second in the class but the honor grad got caught cheating ... so I got guaranteed follow-up training to C school. Everyone else got orders to the fleet and I was expecting mine to Lowry Air Force Base near Denver. My orders don't arrive. I ask for the east coast for a ship out of Norfolk VA. I get a ship off the east coast ... the east coast of Japan! Best thing that ever happened to me. The USS Midway was a steaming son of a bitch and I learned my shit twice as fast as everyone who didn't steam as hard. Turns out my detailer took a three week vacation and my paperwork dropped through somewhere. Karma was good and after 9-12 months on Midway they sent me as a fleet returnee to the school at Lowry.

Going to SF used to be you had to spend a year at your command before being eligible ... and then you could go off to school to return if you failed or go if you didn't. That was years and years ago.

The best advice I read here was to not be bitter. That bad attitude will destroy your tour. Make the best of it ... the Lord and Navy move in mysterious ways. Keep your feet on the deck and keep reaching for dream! If you're heading towards the fleet use this chance to knock out your warfare qualifications.
