So a lot of guys have started to wear the silicone rings. I however have not switched over and still wear my tungsten carbide ring. Just curious if you guys wear a ring while at work and if its a silicone or metal band?

In my line of work (aviation), all jewellery is bad. So I leave mine in my truck
I have a ring but due to an injury I wear it on my watch band.

I wear a ring at work. Primarily it is my wedding band
However I do wear a silicone one occasionally too Lots of younger coworkers wear them. |
I don't wear mine, but only because I haven't gotten around to getting it resized. Lots a good bit of weight and it will slide off.
I've developed a pretty consistent gym habit over the past few years and after having my ring catch on bars a few times and leaving my ring at the gym a few times, I switched to silicone.
I wear a ring, it's the gold one my wife gave me, not a rubber one
I take it off when I'm performing known-risk activities, sky-diving, machine-work, like that My wife removes hers when she's cooking or due to a shift in weight, primarily when she's pregnant |
Most guys didn't wear them after a co-worker lost his finger because of his wedding ring. He got degloved and they couldn't repair it.

QALO everyday.
Titanium wedding band doesn't fit due to weight loss and can't be resized. Bought a QALO when they first came out and burned through 2 very quickly as the began stretching. They replaced them and I went half a size smaller, it was tight at first but fits well now. Has held up very well everything considered. |
Qalo and tattoo during the work week. Tungsten and tattoo for days off
Mine is tattooed, but I also wear a Qalo. Metal just isn't worth the risk to me.
No ring. Conveys things to bad people you don't want them to know.
They also get hung on things. |
I don't wear one at work. I don't need any mutts to know I am married...
Off duty, I wear my wedding band if the wife and I are going out. |
I switched to wearing a silicone ring not to long ago not just because of the safety issue and stuff, but also because my wedding ring has a lot of sentimental value and I'd hate to lose it in a fight or chase.
I have a rubber one.
I did it more for shooting and weight lifting than I did for anything work related, though. |
Had a titanium one for awhile, but really only wore it on the weekends. Then I lost it about two years ago and haven't bought a replacement.
Have a white gold band that I wear most of the time. I only take if off if I'm working in the yard or messing with a car motor or something like that. |
Qalo is the way to go. I bought one to see what it's like and now I have about 8 different colors.

I own a wedding ring, gold, I wore it the afternoon I got married, it's been in my wife's jewelry box ever since.
Been married 31 years, I just cant stand rings on my fingers. The wife wears hers every day, gold and diamonds, along with rings on every other finger. |
I wear a wide silver band. After we got married I went to James Avery and bought several of the same ring in a few different sizes.i keep the wedding band for special occasions and wear my silver ones worry free knowing I have several in a drawer.
No opsec needed in my line of work. |

I used to wear my gold band every day, taking it off only when working in mechanical things where it might get stuck or on high voltage equipment.
Then a few years ago I mildly sprained me L hand ring finger moving a customer's display freezer. HH6 told me to take it off rather than have it get stuck due to swelling, so I switched it to my right hand, where I promptly lost it. Finances were tight enough I couldn't just go out and but a new one and the place we got it DC'd the line. FFWD a few years and I get a silicone one, which I's wearing now. It's not the same (my gold one was actually thinner and more comfortable) but it works. |
I wear a metal ring every day. I've been wearing it for 16 years.
I think if I did get the silicone ring I wouldn't wear my regular ring. The switching back and forth would be a pain..

Why wear a silicone ring? View Quote Several years ago, I was performing a vehicle search and saw a bag of dope stuffed under the front passenger seat. I reached my left hand to retrieve the bag, and my gold band got caught on the curly end of the seat adjuster spring. I was in a precarious position, and it took me about 5 minutes to finally get it loose...luckily the bad guy didn't realize what was going on. I stopped wearing my band then, but have recently bought a silicone ring. |

I went silicone after nearly having my finger ripped off climbing off the rig. My metal ring caught on the knurled grab bar.

At work I don't think I've ever dealt with someone after an arrest who announced how great his marriage was and that he was so happy to be married. On the other hand I get people telling me marriage is horrible and to never get married so I just never wear one so I can go along with all the arrestees.
Plus I've had people threaten harm on me after work, once they clear out of jail etc. no need to give them extra ammo to talk about. |

Ive lost 2 or 3 pricier at work. I insist on wearing my ring so i sport ebay 7 dollar stainless steel. Sends the message to my ravenous female co workers, not too worried if lost
Never wore a ring at work, reasons listed above. I have a couple of cheap stainless steel Ebay rings for around the house and what not. I have a gold band with matching Bulova watch for dressy stuff.
Cool story, I stopped wearing a ring while fishing when I damn near ripped my finger off tossing an anchor. It's amazing how your finger can support being yanked by a a 20 lb anchor but it does not feel good at all. |
Firefighter. When I was married I wore no ring on duty. Too many horrible stories of degloving injuries to consider it. Never heard of silicone rings at the time.
White gold. Wife put it on me 20 years ago and I have not taken it off since. I have done every thing from car/motorcycle, yard, weights, work, dishes, insides of people, animals and who know what else.
No plans to ever take it off. |

Been a firefighter-paramedic for a long time, I'm close to retiring now. I have treated dozens of degloving injuries and it's always a freaky thing to witness. Each time, the person said, "But I was only doing this...". Lots of the younger guys are wearing the Qualos now, but anything that might possibly slow me down when pulling my hand back (in time) isn't worth the risk. My wife understands. I have to say that we get looks sometimes when out with the kids and she has her ring and I don't.

Is that like a cock ring or something? I got married in 2001. My ring has been off about a dozen times for me to use pliers to bend it back into some resemblance of a circle or for me to inspect it for damage. ETA - actually, just realized I've worn this ring for almost 30 years. My grandfather died when I was 9, and he left everything to my grandmother except his wedding ring. My parents secretly had it sized and gave it to me when I was 18. It will come off my finger when I die and leave it to my grandson. |

My wife put this titanium wedding band on my finger 14 years ago and it's not coming off unless my finger does. Pretty it kept my fingers from getting crushed by a heavy ambulance door once. Also in Fire and paramedic work I'm usually wearing gloves.

Plain gold band, wear it all the time. Only time I really take it off is if I'm working in a breaker box or something. Aware of the risk of it getting snagged, but could say the same for every other article of clothing and I ain't takin' those off either.
(cue Asian guy getting wrapped around lathe video...) |
I used to wear a ring when not at work, but stopped wearing one many years ago. My wife prefers I don't wear it. She says married guys are more attractive.
Silicone at work, because my wife bought it for me. I wear my father's wedding band on my time off.
silicone unless we're dressed up for an outing. Although I'm thinking about buying one of these for when i'm working in the office.
I wore my gold band for about a week, but that was it. A few years ago I was looking for it and my wife sheepishly admitted she had sold it for scrap value..........
