I know, it's not a real cop. But it's a badge and a gun and LEOSA... And around here everyone is going to hate me like a cop, so go easy on me!

Any other constables (PA or TX) on board?

I have only seen them at polling and sporting events, so I too am curious.

Depends on where you're at.  Everything from civil process to serving felony warrants. Middle of the night PFA ejections.  Levy and auctioning off people's shit who didn't pay their judgments. Lots of evictions.

How do get a job like that and what does it pay?

I knew a constable that was also a game warden. A lot of guys hated him due to his big ego but he always treated me right.

Elected, and per job. Flat fee plus mileage. You'd be hard pressed to make a good full time living in rural places, but side money. Plus LEOSA so country wide carry perk.

I've heard tales of ATF form 5 privileges as well, but not confirmed.

Either way, elected in your district but you're a state peace officer with state wide authority.

Down side, really attracts some losers. Lots of new regs the past few years due to idiots doing idiot shit with a badge on.

I had an uncle that was a Constable in Texas for 35 years or so. The people of that community were a rowdy group but he had their respect and they did what he asked which was just try and behave. if they didn't they went under the jail !

Be careful about posting info that can be used to identify you, especially on public websites, like here.

Officers have been Arock'd here before.

I followed your earlier thread on it. So you found a class and got certifimicated?

Congrats!

Yep, last batch of classes is this weekend. Carrying a perfect score so far.

Basic firearms is next month. From what I have read, it's a cakewalk.

Idk if I'm going to accomplish much doing this... But I'm giving it a go. Hell the LEOSA is probably worth it.

Two other guys from the far ends of the county are in too. They're much more focused on making money than I am. I pretty much just told them if they need a door kicker or a late night emergency PFA guy, call me. Haha.

This is going to be interesting.

So...are you going to be THE Constable or a deputy Constable?

In my are, neither is very respected as law enforcement. They're either jumping and butchering county or city calls, or spending their on duty shift finding an off duty job for the night. They love to lowball off duty jobs and then screw those up.

Good luck. The only constables I have had dealings with were decent guys but did not do much more than apartment evictions all day.

That's a part of it, but my day job will keep me away from that largely.
