Just got done watching the HBO series John Adams. It has sparked a renewed interested in the American Revolution, however not so much for the "War" side, but the political side, if you will....I was wondering if there are any books you could recommend regarding the founding father's, relations with France or Great Britain at the time? Any Memoirs? Auto Biographies?

Sometimes I have a hard time just reading "Dry facts" if that makes sense....

Battle book: Devil of a Whipping by Lawrence Babits

My favorite account is by Johan von Ewald.  He was a jager captain.  Sorry I don't recall the title of his memoirs.  you'll have to get it via inter-library loan.  BTW, there is one mistranslation in it where he describes the American rifleman.  He says they can easily bring a folding bayonet off their leg.  Huh?  Well, what he wrote was actually a bayonet charge brings them to their feet (which means they flee).

A book like you describe is what I am currently reading, 1775:A GOOD YEAR FOR REVOLUTION by Kevin Phillips.  I am about 2/3's of the way through it and it really tells the story of what was going on during the run-up to the revolution, as well as during it.  I am enjoying the book very much and wish I was done with it.  It is well worth the time to read it.
