Q: May a nonlicensee ship firearms interstate for his or her use in hunting or other lawful activity?
Yes. A person may ship a firearm to himself or herself in care of another person in the State where he or she intends to hunt or engage in any other lawful activity. The package should be addressed to the owner. Persons other than the owner should not open the package and take possession of the firearm.

With all this being said I still am wanting to be sure I understand the law.  I have a lower receiver on the other side of the country.  Can I mail it across country to myself? (To: Me, From: Me).  For that matter could I mail an entire rifle to myself from myself?  I know you cannot mail pistol it must go thru FFL.

Thanks guys anxious for a helpful response.

That's fine.  Addressed from yourself to yourself.

<---FFL
No.
USPS regs allow only licensed dealers and manufacturers to mail firearms other than rifles and shotguns. USPS considers any firearm capable of being concealed on the body the same as a handgun. Frames and receivers are firearms and capable of being concealed on the body, therefore only mailable by licensed dealers and manufacturers.

Note that UPS and FedEx will no longer accept nonlicensee to nonlicensee firearm shipments. Even though Federal law permits you to ship to yourself, they have made it corporate policy to not accept those shipments. Federal law requires you to notify the common carrier in writing that you are shipping interstate to a nonlicensee. So if you follow the "tell them its machine parts" advice from the forum idiots...........you commit a Federal crime.

Wrong. Read the USPS regs.
Lowers are not mailable by anyone except a dealer or manufacturer.

DogtownTom said yes above.  You can mail a complete rifle from yourself to yourself.

Only the USPO will allow you to mail a complete long gun to yourself (unless you also hold a FFL).

Handguns can't be shipped USPS, they have to go by common carrier such as FedEx, UPS, etc.

But you most certainly can ship a handgun to yourself, without involving an FFL.
