When Massad Ayoob speaks, he reminds of a pepperidge farms commercial..........................Pepperidge Farms Remembers!
Seriously, I liked some of his books and vids. |
|
Yea a lot of negative vibes here, especially among LEO's. Could it be a new hampshire thing? They dont have a lot of shootouts up there, be he and his daughter keeps winning IDPA events, or at least were.

I look forward every other month in American Handgunner. HH This, and he is the main reason I watch PDTV |

I liked him more up until he got way too "avoid everything that might be used in court" attitude. It seemed for a while there that was all he focussed on.
|
|
I don't understand all the hate on him.
Seems like a decent guy. His writing makes sense. |
|
Been a follower of his for 25 years. He's a good man.
Oh, and he's a member here too. |
|
I like him. Hopefully he comes to the shoot some day; don't know if precision riflecraft is his thing, though.

Lots of hate for him here. Seems like a pretty solid guy. No hate here. Respect. |

The reason Masaad Ayoob sounds like he's the Peppridge Farms guy is because he was a NEW HAMPSHIRE policeman for quite some time.
If you were one, you'd sound the same damned way. Get over it. |

I'll read anything he writes. Always interesting. Me too. I have been reading his work for probably 25 years. |

Never heard anything negative about him on ARFCOM. I dont really pay attention to the author most of the time but doesnt he write for SWAT?
|
|
Always enjoyed what he has to say.
Very informative, nothing negative from me about him. |
|
When he joined here to argue that was classic, and then someone bought him a membership and he never came back.

He's an excellent writer and a great trainer. The only ones who hate on him are losers who write on the interwebs!

He's holding a class here in IA this Spring. I'd like to go but not sure if I will do it yet. I do respect the guy.

I've gt nothing against him. Good advice, good shooter.

I'm a LEO and dont have negative vibes about Mas Ayoob.........from what I've read he's pretty damn smart and paying attention to his advice can keep you out trouble AFTER a shooting....assuming you survive. Massad Ayoob attended his first Appleseed this past weekend in Florida.

Most folks here and in the gun world in general like to thumb their noses at instructors because they have never taken any real instruction when it comes to using firearms in a defensive manner.
Most American males don't feel they need any instruction in much of anything, most have the attitude that when they dropped out of the womb they could already drive like Mario Andretti, fuck like Ron Jeremy, and shoot like Wyatt Earp... you cannot teach them a thing... But the fact is, you don't know, what you don't know. |

There was a pretty big thread here a few years ago where a number of people jumped on him for a number of things ranging from what they believed to be misleading remarks about his scores in matches to alleged events where he'd been drunk at matches. I pointed out a few misleading(IMO) statements in one of his books that seemed to imply that he'd been in some gunfights but he clarified that he'd never been in any and that his intent was not to imply that he had. He did show up here to argue in that thread and, IIRC, he stuck around for a little while afterwards, but he isn't active here as far as I know. I don't recall ever seeing anything from him in SWAT in the last 10 years or so. |

Mas is a good man.
He supports your right to defend yourself as a law-abiding citizen. He thinks women like my wife and daughters should carry & be trained & competent with firearms. He does not believe in enabling violent criminals for emotional or political reasons. He likes guns. A lot. He is a published author. He is a hell of a shot. I thought LFI-1 and LFI-2 were worth my investment. What's not to like? |
|
I read and listen to what he has to say. It's better than 99% of the crap you read on here.

Masaad has personally answered an e-mail I sent and his response was friendly, helpful and very valuable. I enjoy everything of his I've read and all the vids I've seen him in.

other than the fact he writes for a gun magazine where everything tested is the cats ass..... ya im sure he's a great guy
|
|
He's an accomplished shooter/trainer and although I don't agree with him 100% of the time the man does know what he's talking about...

ProArms PodCast...
Download and Listen. Booya and many other talents talk about guns every week. GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Some criticism I've heard (from people who have learned from him) is that he doesn't smell great (no joke) and that his advice is obvious to experienced shooters. I however, being a handgun novice find his work valuable.
|
|
I have followed alot of his advice and have his books. Good stuff.
|
|
I just finished his Concealed Handgun book from a couple of years ago. I always like his work. I just passed the book along to a buddy who just got his CHL.
Mas has some really good points. Never hurts to be aware or be careful. |
|
Ayoob was a major influence on me when I started getting interested in firearms.
I have much respect for him. |

I respect the man.
I don't always agree with everything he says, but he's the real deal. |

He is one of the people that I would like to sit down with and and talk to about subjects on shooting ,self defense and the courts.
I have a lot of respect for him.. |
