30 round mag in a good AR.....How long would it take for the average guy to empty the mag?
No bump firing. |
As fast as he can pull the trigger. For me that's around 4.5-5.5 seconds.
Quoted: 5 to 6 seconds Damn I like that car in your Avatar.....Is that yours? |
Fast enough that the handguards are uncomfortably hot to the touch even wearing a GI leather glove shell after three mags-no, we're not going to count the left over rounds in this just opened ammo can.
Fast enough to be considered a threat to anybody on the receiving end.
Are we just spraying and praying? Can empty a mag like that in 4-5 seconds. If I want to actually hit something, its going to be 10-15.

A fairly hard shooter in a sling, with good windage can put 30 on a man-sized sillouette at 500 and 600yds in 50seconds.

fast enough that quite a few people will think you're running class-III.
you might get A Visit. |

With all of the 5.7x28 threads posted here and all of the so called experts saying that there is a big difference between the effectiveness of a P90 and a PS90 because the P90 is full auto (as in that is why the SS uses them).......for some reason I do not think that there is much difference between 3 to 5 rounds a second going into a body versus 10. |

I've never been lucky enough to shoot a P90 and I'm sad to admit that my PS is neutered to 10 round mags ( really asking what the point is but I wanted one anyway) but the thing has no appreciable recoil pulling the trigger as fast as I can. It's such an easy gun to shoot that it's almost comical and most of those that don't get the original PDW purpose must have never fired one to realize that it really is pretty much a handgun for idiots. They weren't meant for people who pull triggers as their first order of business and it only takes one time firing one to see that the guy/gal who might have done a mag dump from their pistol in futility might actually hit someone and do some damage with the goofball FN. |
If I'm hitting a target, it's about a half second rhythm. So about 15 seconds.
I've been running the V-TAC half and half drill for a few months now.
final stage - 10 rds, under 2.5 seconds, 7 yds, A zone, from the low ready. I'm down to a 2.13, first round .51 seconds, split average .12 seconds, 10 Alphas pretty consistently. My goal is obviously under 2.0 seconds but I don't see it happening unless I can snap the rifle up much faster. ETA: V-TAC 1/2 and 1/2 Drill |

I like this video better Video

Same thing I was gonna post. Prett damn fast. |

Properly slung up I dumped ten rounds in a couple of seconds into a 25m scaled silhouette, the ROTC cadidiot from New Jersey thought I'd gone auto (M16A1's) until he saw the big ragged hole in the middle of the target... |

I can empty and reload a bolt action rifle around 850rpm, and I can empty and reload my ak around 1600rpm.

Most people are wrong. The diffrence is ammo. AP will do a whole hell of a lot more damage then a sporter/varmint round. Most the time If you can get a P90, you can get the ammo to go with it. |

But seriously, I'm going to try those drills the next time I get some range time with my other shooting buddies. |

Static targets, known distances, no cover, no obstacles. Man-O-man, if I ever have to use a firearm for self defense, I hope the BGs are as disciplined as those targets are. As for dumping max rounds for time, that is also a waste of time. |

With my AKS-74 clone I can empty a mag in 3-4seconds. I have to shoot with my middle finger though, its much faster for me. Accuracy on the other hand is a whole different story!

If none of you guys own AOTTC 1 or 2 from Magpul Dynamics, get some. My adult step son thought they were shooting automatic weapons in it. I had to tell him that Costa and Haley are fast. So were the other guys in the 2nd half of 1 and all of 2.

you could probably bump fire by holding the stock against your D cups to get some recoil bounce going. |
