Marlin 922M review? This is the discontinued .22 Magnum, why did they stop making it? I got one and it seems ok. I found one in better condition than the one I got so before I own BOTH I want to see if anyone knows anything about them. Also, if you want to recommend another .22 magnum autoloader in place of this one that would be great also. I looked at the Volquartsen but that is so much money.
Edited to add/ This will be for part of my prairie dog shooting group of rifles.

I have a Ruger 22 Magnum.  The nice thing about the Ruger is the ability to get aftermarket barrels.  I can go from 22 Mag to 17HMR in 5 minutes.

IF I were to do .22wmr again, it would be the ruger for that fact alone!

on the ruger 10/22 it was to many broken recievers, I have a ruger 10/22 magnum and bought it new in the box. I put a bolt buffer in it and have not had any trouble

Because .22 magnum sucks.

And it's damned difficult to sell the things. You have to have someone who wants a .22 magnum. There's still a Ruger 10/22 Magnum on the rack at the store I worked at 3 years ago that's celebrating its 6th or 7th anniversary.

I had one of these (922M) - had a lot of issues with it.
The chamber was not cut right and I was having issues with rounds exploding partially.
After the 2nd or 3rd time I had a casing get compromised I decided that I was probably already on borrowed time and brought it back to the place I bought it.
Explained the issue and told them to take it back.

Probably could have been repaired, but I only paid maybe $100 for the thing used so it wasnt worth it to me at the time.

With a 3x9 scope, it was very accurate out to 100 yards.
Fun gun...mine just had mechanical issues.

+1.  Are they trying to unload it cheap?

I love .22 mags.  No better bunny-killer, IMHO.

I used to have a Marlin 922M but just didn't like the way it felt.
No complaints, just personal preferance.
I now have a Remington 597M and love it. I had heard lots of stories about the 597 having feeding problems, and if you fill the clip full mine will jam. If you just put 5 in it instead of 8 it works flawlessly. Also much more accurate than the Marlin.

The only one I could find a year ago was a Volquartsen.

Lightning1960,
You sure about that. Rem more accurate than a microgroove barrel from Marlin. I don't know.
Anyway, I hat to get the Remington even though I love Rem stuff. Just ain't crazy about the 597. I think they are about to go OP. That means over plastic. Instead of over dose it is over plastic. A gun can only be made to feel so flimsy before I loose interest. I know they got to save a buck but come on, don't make crap guns. Make a great gun and charge alot of $ and I'll buy it if it is a good product.

Maybe I just got a bad Marlin or a good Remington.
The 922 would group about 1" at 50 yds.
The 597 will cut one hole.

maybe I should just get the Remington. That is why I post here. Thanks. I shot the Marlin today and it jammed on the first round. This was the second test for it. First one passed. Fail this time.
