I never stopped hating Shinji, it just turned to stronger hate.

I could hang with Subaru since he got better.

Most depressing first 15 minutes of a series that I've ever watched.  Bad enough to make a person give up on watching, before the episode is over, but is necessary to understand the character and her reaction to the events that come later.

Good show.

Dammit one more episode of Naruto until it's over.
It should be over now but I've sunk too much time into watching it to not see the last damn episode...
Then I'll never watch it again.

Probably, unless I have kids someday that want to...

It's not that I love the show or anything.
I just feel like I've wasted too much time. The final battle was cool I guess....

Speaking of DBZ, a coworker recently got me to watch the DBZ Abridged series by TeamFourStar on Youtube.  I had never heard of it.

It's been a while since I've laughed that hard.

Out of the ones I've watched, this last season...I'd have to say I enjoyed Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin (and Taboo Tattoo)  the most.

Definitely more coming with it.

Alderamin was quite well done, with its emphasis on military tactics, development of some of the characters, and interesting plot twists (although it also suffered from its clichéd treatment of corrupt and incompetent military and government leaders, which was also overdone in Attack on Titan and others).

I found Tattoo to be watchable, but less interesting (it had its moments, though).

Just discovered Twin Star Exorcists, which I'm binge watching - it took a while to gain my interest, but it has gotten better over time - and I like the occasional bold artwork where it juxtaposes the faces of two characters in stark black/white form at certain strategic moments - wondering whether that artwork is taken directly from the manga...

The B2 posters displayed in the theaters are already going for over $100, when you can find them.  Even the unmarked promo ones are $30-40 at auction close.

Yes, I've got a bid in.

I'm beginning to remember why I stopped watching anime a few years back.

Whiny average boring guy has a bunch of smoking hot women of all shapes, ages, and sizes literally shove their tits and asses into his face and instead of just taking care of business he whines, moans, cries, and shrieks when they do so.

Just how many times can they use this formula before gets old?

It's like every basement dweller yearns to be adored by women, but when he finally gets one doesn't know what to do with one.

I stopped watching harem anime years ago.  Almost everything I get involved with now avoids the normal formula in some way.

Speaking of which is there any love for one punch man here.  I was avoiding the manga for years but then ended up reading it anyway and love it.

I find myself on crunchyroll often looking for things that are different. Here's a list of some things I have enjoyed relatively recently.

samurai flamenco

Cute high: earth defense club

irregular and magical high school (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei)

Gintama

Onepunch Man

Mob Psycho 100

Kill la Kill

That is all I can think of at the moment (there are lots more). However, these are ones I have liked I feel like either immediately or completely over the course of the series have broken most of the common anime tropes.

Check out the first thing he ever directed:  She and Her Cat: Their Standing Points.  4 minutes long.  He made it essentially by himself with no budget or studio.

Then check out the remake done by an actual studio from this past March, which is 7x the run-time, and which only credits him for the source material.

Sometimes, less is more.
