I never knew how many folks just cruise around and dont reply. I wonder if its because there hasn`t been any real flaming happening or are there always lurkers just keeping pulse? What gives?
What is the psychological profile of the dreaded lurker?[(:|)]

Don't you ever work or something?

It would give the old/new forums a new look and feel is some of these "lurkers" would say something.  I know that we have a lot of talented people in interesting professions and hobbies. My $.02

Where I work. I have 4 screens

2 for Bloomberg Analytics
1 for Excel
1 for Client Software and Internet(gunboards)

So I get to monitor the mkts, my positions, and the boards. Lucky huh. I post when I get down time in trading, or when calling on clients and been put on hold.

I have lurked...but I'm not in the habit of doing so.

I can say this as a lurker who had actually lurked...I'm lurking no more. I will be content with this board.

I`ve told myself before I go to a new disc board that I will not register and I just want to check it out.
I rarely get past the second topic before I just have to reply.
No self control of the mouth I reckon.

Sometimes I just stop by to look and don't log in unless there's something that I can contribute.

Make sure that your windows are closed before the sandstorm hits.

I lurked for a long time before registering for the old board. Lots of people just come too look up info.  It is also interesting to see how many people just read posts and do not respond.

AS per rich314's question from couple post up, (not the original one), if you were joking, then LO, but if you were actually wondering...

Because they don't.

As in real life, some people are more "talkative" than others.

I was completely content to be an unregistered lurker [^], until I needed to communicate with Kurt.  After that I saw some posts asking for info that I knew something about (figure that).

Some people don't want to go through the situation of posting with the intent of helping someone, then have an a#sh@le get stupid with it.  That's what kept me from posting, only a few trips to HK91.com will make you see how "civil" things are over here.

Probably a lot of them (like me) registered when this board first started, and kept to the old (and MUCH better) board. Now that it's down, they've forgotten their Password and can't get in. Hell, I had to re-register (I know, call me a dumb-*ss for forgetting my password)
