Delta Force Land Warrior. Addicted to playing on Novaworld, even though NW sucks most of the time. The servers are down quite a bit, even tonite I went to play and there were only a few games running. May go back later and play public games.
I play all the other TFPS games but DF for me is the best. Love the war thing and open battlefields more than the hostage rescue thing. Ghost recon may change that though. I would love to play Operation Flashpoint but that is a computer upgrade away. Damn P3500 can do everything I want it to but play the new games I want. |

Firearms mod for halflife.
I find it to be a better community than the CounterStrike community. That and Firearms has more types of game play within one map than CounterStrike seems to have, CS started to get awful lame after the maps developed an overwhelmingly predictable mode of play and after both the community and the cheats got totally unbearable. I occasionally play LandWarrior but like previously stated, NOVALOGIC SUCKS! Used to love DF2 and took well to LandWarrior until all the same old Nova crap started over again, Nova refuses to put new maps up on their public servers and no matter if it's been 5 months or 5 years they will run the same old boring maps, the awful thing about it is that LandWarrior is one of the easiest games to create maps for and the least Novalogic could do is give their customers a little variety by switching things up a bit every 3-4 months. The private games are usually better in terms of map design and players, occasionally I'll host a few games of LandWarrior. Firearms for Halflife is pretty cool though when you get into some of the better servers. It's the one I play most, no question about it. Graphics aren't the greatest but the game play is pretty decent. |
uglygun- If you ever host a private game shoot me an email. Weekend nights are best for me but I can always try to make time. I'm on cable as well so hopefully that will help with the other NW problem, LAG.

Halflife, Quake, Unreal, Rogue Spear, and Deus Ex. Of all these I like Deus Ex and Rogue sper the most. Both of them allow more strategy and less run and gun. Rogue Spear and the Urban Operations expansion are excellent, they are probably the most realistic of the games i've seen.

CS and only CS. Have played Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear in the past....OWNED! By the way, I really dig Jewbroni's Manga signatures....go you nutty Jew, LOL...

Once I played Counterstrike, there was no going back to Rainbow or Rogue Spear. Best damn free mod ever!!!!!! Been playing it for probably a year now. . . and still play it like an addict pulls the slot machine lever! later, Steven L. |

Counter Strike but thinkin about playin Delta Force Land Warrior again.

LOL [ARF]? or how about *AR* or maybe *SC* Stoners Crew. im in!

I used to play Rogue Spear, but Jagged Alliance is my all time favorite. Hitman 47 was pretty cool game as far as action goes.

Playing Operation Flashpoint, so far in single player mode.
But as soon as the US release and dedicated server support arrives I will play this puppy online. Kuiper |

I'm tellin ya guys, URBAN TERROR mod for Quake3 absolutely OWNZ counterstrike and company.
Remember that the HL engine is Q2 based, so this puppy runs smoother, looks nicer, and the mod itself is beautiful to play... it's like CS on CRACK!!! Limp with leg wounds, bleed to death like in FA, bandaging of wounds to yourself or others, solid start of weapons in games, TONS of game play variations, etc. Give this thing a shot!!! I used to play CS ONLY. I was one of the freaks who was playing since B1 and started a clan called -[DW]- and then when we all got sick of it I joined [UGP] for a stint. Again I grew tired of CS and bailed... now I am HOOKED on UT and planning on clanning for it!!! If you dont have Quake3, GET IT!!! If you have Q3, GET URBAN TERROR!!! Keep in mind it's only a Beta2, but at beta 2 it's like CS now, except without the number of guns available! And the maps are just incredible!!! -- GB |
That is an excellent point Ratters, Novaworld is more like Nova island in the middle of the freekin' Pacific. I used to play DF2 online and as soon as I got my cable modem I went to try it out on DF3 and, of course, the damn servers were down. Found a couple of public games though and, man, does that game rock with a good connection! I usually hook up with the BOTAs whenever I can find them. I know the guy that started the team and I lend them fire support whenever I see them.
I liked CS OK, but there's just something about running around with a SAW that is just damn addictive.... |
Threw up a few screenshots of UT in the other forum topic to get you guys a peek at where the CS crowd has been running off to play...

Trust me, when it hits the shelf, I'm spending my 60 bucks that very day and having a field day with that game. Oh, and CPL_Punishment, we already do have an [AR15.com] clan (at least in Counter-Strike). It just seems that not too many people use it, but I keep the tag on there at time. Hey Goatboy, what serevers do you play on? I think my clan plays on Shredco and Phionex[sp?] We are from the Northeast too to you should ping good there.I am {ROS}SquidHead and my boys are CrackHead, MadMike and JRoach. Most of the other guys play Instagib. You play under Goat boy, right?
fire-arms and day of defeat are the games i play, i find that its really hard finding mature people on public servers lately, also FA and DOD dont have that pos hitbox problem that cs has, where unload 30rnds into a guy, see blood spraying out and he has 100 health and kills you
I agree with Goatboy re. the attraction of R6 & Rogue Spear. The best part of those games were always the mission planning stage in single-player. The gameplay puckered my sphincter every time... For me, half the fun in CS is the custom maps, guns, & player models. Some of those 13-year olds can REALLY model!!! You gotta really get on a server that rotates custom maps. The boys at tardhauze.org are really good about that. Tell me CS ain't supreme after playing Predator, Torn, Survivor, Museum, the list goes on....If we can get a west coast server goin', I'm there, under "kay parker"...mmm, kay.
OK, just been to the UT site & saw more screens. I still think CS has better texture on the maps, especially the custom ones. BTW, anyone else read the preview on Doom III at gamespot? Sounds great.
I was wondering if anyone has tried one of the mods they make for Unreal Tournament, one is called Tactical Ops I think and I forget the name of the other one but the games look very nice with all respects but I hear the game play can get a bit tedious until you learn all the key commands. One of them requires the shooter to use the iron sights rather than use a little on screen crosshair.
I play DF2 a lot. See me mostly in Nova's Bazookas game. SN is Mr.Clark.
I quit playing CS... to many lame ass kids cheating.
I have beed playing DOD since it came out.... fun game. I like playing light infantry for the allies! |
Computer Games
I played CS a lot but I've bailed because there are too many llamas (teenagers & cheaters). I've been playing DoD recently but since it's based on the half-life engine (same as CS) it is exposed to the same hacks. I've gotten tired of most of the Real-Time Strategy games (warcraft, starcraft, etc) but I'm waiting impatiently for Empire Earth (Sierra) that's supposed to come before Christmas. Board Games Lots of these games, but my favorites are Axis & Allies (original, europe, and pacific), Battle Cry (American Civil War), Breakout: Normandy, and Storm over Arnhem. |

View Quote I play in decent ping servers... usually OPALSHOUSE, Emergency Rescue Team, CHELLO, TRIAD, and TTSOM, but basically anywhere the ping is solid. JLA has been playing too (more than I have as I WORK all the time... heehee) so he's pretty solid too... I play as "goatboy" so look me up anytime. I'm usually on each week night for an hour or so and sometimes on the weekend for about the same. I played TacOps for Unreal and it was ok, but the movement is totally whacky and not very "playable" if you ask me. As for the textures in CS, I was friends with some of the mappers and it's just a matter of time before they hit the UrbanTerror mod. Mapping is the same, but the engine allows for much better mapping! Some of the textures on the newest batch of maps surpass most of the CS maps. PB is nice, but doens't do the job as far as I'm concerned! Thus why CS is dead to me... -- GB |

Quoted: I liked CS OK, but there's just something about running around with a SAW that is just damn addictive.... View Quote That is one thing that really bugs me about DF3. How many people could realistically run and CONTINUOUSLY HOP AROUND for 15+ minutes with a 15lb rifle, 600 rounds and another 25+ lbs of supplemental weapons of ammo. Not to mention at the same time hitting moving targets 50+ yards away. |

(currently banned from, have NO clue why) -counterstrike2.cfl.rr.com -! Frag'em and Bag'em -Home of the Schwanz @ GT -Texas Best #2 -www.TILTED.com What are some other CS-like games out there? I own Q3Arena (although I've only played it once) as well as Half-Life, so I'm thinking about trying the UrbanTerror mod and the Firearms mod. Any other ones I'm totally missing out on? Since I am on a POS dialup that's lucky to hot 50k, I play Hitman alone.

What! no else plays Fighter Ace,Man I'm hopelessly hooked on that game.

Jewbroni, if you install the Firearms mod then let me know and I'll fire up a server so that you can join in and I can show you some of the "ins*outs" of the game that aren't so apparent at the start and that way you can more quickly configure your keys. We'll get you rolling so that the first game you join you won't be the typical newbie going by the name "freshmeat" nor will you deserve the name. I'll show you how to fire the mortar and even whore it so that you'll rack up the kills and piss off the other team at the same time. There's simply a ton of firearms(as the name suggests) to select from and the use of each has it's own set of strategies.

Imbroglio- Do you use that handle when you play DFLW? I've seen someone a couple times using that name and wondered if it was you. Then I though nah, he's probably too busy sitting on his bed staring at the floor.
Maybe we should start adding ar15 after our handles? edited cause I can't spell check |

If you guys ever play Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun or Red Alert 2 I think you'll be hooked. They are the best real time strategy games I've ever played. I can really spend months playing just one of these software titles.

I mostly play Diablo 2 & Red Alert 2 both online. Sometimes I get a little ages of empires going.

Jewbroni, I loved FA, but this game is tighter to play... there's capture the flag, capture and hold, free for all (DM), survivor (CS Style), and a few other game play types. So there's servers which play games very FA like. The only thing in FA which I miss is the mortars... FA graphics blow chunks and the game play is a bit iffy... not to mention all the HL cheats out there.
UrbanTerror just shines right now and IS the stand out game... I'm just converting people for their own good!!! Quake3 sat on my shelves unused for a looooong time. I haven't stopped playing since I got into this game, and for the first time months I actually am into a game which I can enjoy every night like old school CS. CS had it's day and I loved it, but this is the word of an ex-CS clan master. Of course, when SW galaxies comes out, I will never play another game... heehee -- GB |
