May be absolutely not connection at all but as soon as I read thru the Code Red thread I started getting massive ammounts of hits thru my cable connection.
Duhhhhh I guess I should have known better.
Hope I didn't cry wolf on this one. If I did I apoligise in advance

I opened and read the CODE RED thread and got one hit. I'm running Black Ice Defender. During the day I don't get many hits. In the evening..nonstop. A friend told me if my ICQ is running I'll get pinged by their server. They are checking my online status. Interesting a lot of the probes are from someone using the same internet provider I am. Some night I'm really bored I'm going to drop a dime..er..quarter and provide some IP's to my service provider.[}:D]

Interesting.....I'm getting almost nonstop pings from somewhere.
Striker, how do you like Defender. Was it easy to set up etc?

it seems to do the job. I had Zone Alarm but apparently it isn't designed for ADSL hook up's. It was screwing up my browser. It's been awhile since I installed it but if I can do it....anyone can.[:)]

I have to admit to being just computer literate enough to use AR15.com, but what do you mean by "hits" and "pings" and how can one tell that is happening?

Well for starters you need an old speaker wire with the jack on the end of it. bare the two wires and tape one on your tin foil hat..(you do have a tin foil hat don't you?) just over your right temple. Tape the other one in the center of the back of your tin foil hat (you do have a tin foil hat don't you?). Next plug the jack into your sound card and listen. You should hear a "ping'. As for being "probed"..well we won't go there.

Striker, my speaker wire is a duplex cord with a white line on one one of the wires(I imagine this is for phasing your speakers). So do I tape the wire with the white line over my right temple or do I tape the plain wire over my right temple?

That depends on whether or not you are left or right handed and which eye is your dominant one. [:)]

If you go to http://grc.com/dos/grcdos.htm It's a long read but informative, especially toward the end. I've been using ZoneAlarm and like it. KenS

I didn't hear any pings, but the voices in my head have stopped. Thanks!
