Both come with a 5 and 30 round mag. Which has better accuracy and killing power?? And which has better parts availibility? I've wondered this for a long time.

about even in killing power, but i prefer the Sar-2, plus you save 20$

I went with the SAR2 for a few reasons.  The ammo costs about the same as .223.  And the Mags are WAY cheaper.  I know you can fuss with 5.45 mags to make them work in SAR3s but I didn't want the hassle.

I also wanted a different caliber then the .223 to change things up a little.

Some people worry about the availibity of the 5.45 vs. the 7.62 and the .223 since the AK74 is the only weapon that fires these rounds.

I'm not worried since it is the full time weapon of the Russians now.

I also wanted a (somewhat) authentic AK74

I just heard from CAMPYBOB that there is about 5 million rounds of 5.45 about to come off U.S. customs

I love shooting the SAR-2.  Very fun and quite accurate.  But the SAR-1 is the classic.  I would get one of each.  But then I am a "gun lover".

I've got a WUM-1 and a milled MAK-90...Both shoot the round they were originally designed for...The 7.62X39...
Ammo is DIRT CHEAP!!!
Both guns are dead nuts reliable, and "Bump-fire" easily...
I did have an SAR-3 .223 AK at one time, but could never get it to run right, so I got rid of it...

I have been thinking of picking up an SAR-2 in 5.45X39 just for kicks...

Anyone know how the 5.45X39 compares to the 7.62X39 ???

I understand they are soft shooters...Maybe a good gun for the wife ??? She didn't care too much for the recoil of the 7.62X39...
LOVED the .223 AR though !!!

5.45 goes for anywhere from $85 -$100 per thousand.  $100/1000 is more common.

The recoil is very light and even lighter with an AK74 muzzle break.
