I'm cleaning two ARs after an afternoon at the range (took a newbie, he's hooked) and I'm thinking, "Man this shit smells good!"

I'm thinking that if I could buy fancy perfume bottles, print lables that say "Hoppes #9 Fancy Perfume" and give it to my girlfriend to use, I might want to spend almost as much time with her as I do my guns. [:)]

I clean my guns outside using Hoppes under the patio cover and away from prying eyes of the neighbors. The smell is part of the experience of shooting.

I have no choice...
I'm forced to smell it...
Last week I accidently dumped over a whole bottle on my workbench.
It soaked into the wood over a large area, and now my whole downstairs of my house smells of Hoppe's #9.
The largemouth bottle doesn't give you much time to save any either...
The whole damn thing empties out almost immediately...

The smell of Hoppes after cleaning and the smell of powder on the drive home from the range are two aromas that put a smile on my face.

It is funny how a small whiff (even the next day) will take you back to reflect the wonderful time you had at the range. Sorta like when you were a kid a fingered your first girlfriend and you spent the remainder of the night and next day smelling your fingers and hands and just grinning knowing what a great time you had. OK, some maybe not exactly the same, but you get my point.

I'm a bit klutzy sometimes, that is why I pour the gun cleaning chemicals into smaller bottles that have a little spout that you flip up to despense, and fold down to close. I'm always concerned about spilling a whole bottle of that smelly stuff.

I LUV that smell. I also wish I could get the smell of burnt gunpowder in an insence (sp?) or air freshener. :) I can see it now, Glade Guns and Ammo edition, Hoppes & Sulphur Spray and Plug Ins. :)

Don't I know it. You are lucky, you spilled it on the workbench. My dumb ass just happened to be cleaning over the living room carpet downstairs. [pissed] Fortunately it was less than half a bottle and did not leave a stain, also it is under a table, but it was very odoriferous for a couple of weeks.

My wife used to hate the smell of Hoppe's #9.
But now that I have an M1A and use lube grease, she thinks #9 is like perfume. I almost can't stand the smell of that lube.

I will usually hang up the bore snake on a nail after I am finished using it and it scents the room with Hoppes for days afterwards.

I think it's getting to my head though... [whacko]
