I'm confused, I thought both of Captain Obvious's accounts had been locked earlier? It then posts an apology and when people come down on him for his past behavior, he requests the thread to be locked. What's up with that?

Drop it. No, seriously, just drop it.

haha.. cute... not. I requested the thread to be locked only becasue the purpose of the thread was for people to have a link to my apology. No reason for people to continue to post crap that's been said in more than one thread. I'm just trying to help save server space! (lol)

Actually the propose of this thread is to continue holding you up to public ridicule. A behavior adjust tool I find much more effective then banishment in some cases.mmk

Here's what it boils down to: Were this a General Discussion topic, people would still be angry and offended - yes - but it would have been a perfect way to show how a fouled-up dealer can pull off a scam on all of us AR.com guys. It would have been enlightening and justifiable, as no real "crime" would have been commited at all. However, it wasn't a GD - it was an EqEx. Our EqEx is the "business" portion, for lack of better terminology, of this fine site. All of the other forums are for advice, questions, comments, rants and raves, bitching, moaning, and learning - but the EqEx is a true area of commerce that should not be taken lightly or disrespected. Capt, what you did was not intrinsically bad, and I admire the fact that you won't back down from that opinion. However, the main injustice that was served was the PLACE of the post, not the CONTENT of it. If you made a quick, but sincere apology for doing the wrong thing in the wrong place, then I think people would overlook the incident, and it would enforce the idea that the EqEx, which I've used on 2 or 3 occasions, is tolerant of only professional, non-fraudulant behavior. Ya F'ked up, you made an error in judgement - we all do sometimes...now you pay your one-time-installment "Idiot Tax" and apologize for the place the post was made, understanding that it has its own set of rules. Simple as that. We all in agreement? It hurts being this good...probably because I'm Eee-vil

Actually for five hours his little prank could have caused a legitimate dealer to lose sales and therefore money. Suppose C-Mags were posted on an auction site and that auction closed prior to the Capn's revelation that this was a prank. This kind of crap causes the seller to deal with any number of retracted bids as well as being stuck paying posting fees for an item that did not sell due to buyers believing that an incredible deal could be found elsewhere.

I don't understand how fraud can be less of a crime in one forum than another. What difference does it make where the perp committed his egregious act, a lie in GD is different than a lie in EQEX??? That's like saying stealing from the bedroom is worse than stealing from the kitchen during a burglary. AR15.COM is a house with many rooms. You don't SH*t where you live. Paul - To the best of my recollection, this is not the first time that C. O. has behaved in this manner. It certainly seems to be a pattern of behavior, based on some of his previous posts. Why should the members give him another break, just so he can continue with this obnoxious behavior? I stick with my prevous statements. I'm not saying it wasn't a mistake on his part, because it was. I'm simply saying that the EqEx. has it's own set of "implicit" rules that should be followed. Maybe we should make these guidelines "explicit" so other dumb animals don't shit on their territory - McDonalds put a label on hot coffee due to a specifically for future breakouts of dumb animals, so this should be step #1 in making sure this never happens again. Furthermore, almost everybody and their mother has shit on the GD forums on at least one occasion. Porn, nudity, and general lewdness is rampant...any Joe AR15.com Schmoe could relay that. Bickering, fighting, slandering of other members during discussions - when not done on the board itself, a crap is often taken on the inhabitants therein every waking moment. This was just a bigger dump on a larger number of people (from their point of view of course - CO thought he was just joking). While you may have a problem with the context of the post, I have a concern with the etiquette of where it was posted - on a business level of AR15.com. We both feel that the post was a misjustice to us in some way. As for why, I think we can both agree to disagree. [brown]Evil Jewbroni~[/brown] P.S. - Let's try and keep this civil as much as possible guys. Repeated shitting on somebody who shitted on you does nothing but add more to the mountain of feces. Besides, we've already had 2 posts locked, so let's make the 3rd time a charm.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Regarding last night’s thread, it was intended to be a joke. However, I do apologize to those of you who I angered, or who feel “cheated”. Just so you know, I purposely said my email account was disabled for the sole reason that you, the buyer would not send me any personal information. That should count for something. I also think last night’s thread brought several things into perspective. Like how easy it would be for a real scam artist to rip you off. We can all learn from this. For those of you who wish to ban me (DavidXX??), if you can get 50 people on these forums who wish me to leave, I will delete my account, and not sign up for any new ones. Best wishes, Captain Obvious [ Edited By CAPTAIN OBVIOUS on 7/7/2001 2:38:47 PM ]

Ouch, calling me a LIAR now. OK then, aparantly we CAN'T agree to disagree (which is a bit of a catch-22, but I'll appease you). -Sub MOA at 25 yards is under .25". I've put repeated (i.e. more than one or two occassions) near-single holes with two shots. Doesn't happen often, but it has happened. -I never apologized for his actions, they were deplorable. He's a kid, and he'll grow up and learn what he did was wrong -he's sticking to his guns about this, which is admirable, but also very stubborn. Kids do that crap [:\] -I am not defending him, nor am I condoning his actions. We both feel that this was an injustice, I just have more "emotional ties" to the EqEx, so my beef comes from that level. You're welcome and expected to take a different, though equally leveled, disappointment value on this. By the way, don't *hint hint* at whether you think I'm telling the truth or not. If you don't believe me, come out and say it, but don't be subliminal. I'll defer any type of other comments now in the name of civility, but make similar gestures to me again - and the gloves come off. We're in the same boat, so chill. Jewbroni~

Jew - First, I'm not calling you a liar, but didn't you make the sub MOA at 25 yards comment about a Sig 9mm? In a post of favorite handguns or next handgun to purchase, etc. just recently? If that is the case, then the bullet, which is .355 would have a heck of a time making a .25 hole, right?

Besides, I'm not hammering him, I'm just pulling his chain. We all make these type of goofs from time to time... [X] Just like I can't spell goofs and it comes out as goffs

Jewbronis veracity is not in question here, Captain Underpants's is. He says it was just a joke, but somehow, with the feeble excuse for an apology, I get a funny feeling in my stomach that it might have been something else going on. YMMV.

Beachboy, I cleared it up saying, that after measuring, I probably was shooting MOA, not SUB-MOA shots (only 2 shots, not "groups" or anything...that would be unreal). And you count the distance between the middle of the bullets. So 1/2 the diameter of the .40cal bullet would be about 1/5 of an inch. The next bullet's diameter would be well inside that of the previous, making the holes look like a Figure-8. If I had to make a reading, then they would probably be close to .33" apart, and not <.25" as I stated. I apologize for that, but nonetheles...I've made some DAMN CLOSE SHOTS! I was definately shooting MOA at 25yards, but I'll admit I might have went ahead a bit by saying SUB. My mistake, but gimme some more practice and I'll change that [;)] [brown]Evil Jewbroni~[/brown]
