Found this in this mornings paper;

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) Defense attorneys said it was just a potato, Prosecuters argued it was a silencer. In the end, a jury decided a man who weilded a gun with a potato stuffed in the barrel was guilty of using a silencer-equipped gun in the commission of a drug crime - a conviction carrying a mandatory 25 year federal prison sentence.......In closing arguments, federal prosecuters said no expert testimony was necessary to establish the significance of affixing a potato to the gun's barrel. "It was'nt there to make french fries" prosecuter David A. Ring said. "Why else would he have done that?"

Vegetable registration is right around the corner guys! If you currently own an AR AND a potato, you might want to get that illegal silencer out of the house in a big hurry!

Interesting.  Now they have told many folks how to make a cheap silencer.

The use of a potato as a silencer must be fairly commen knowledge.

Two potato silencer stories:

True, but if you go to gun shows and take a gander at the books they sell, it says this too.  Along w/ the 2L soda pop bottle trick.

Wonder if the price of potatoes will go up now....

Kaliburz, I had heard about the soda bottle, but had not heard of a potato.  Oh well, live and learn.

Oslow, read the Florida story.  What an asshole!

...And upon the waning days of the Republic, the new leader was in power. He stood before the glassy eyed masses of his supporters and proclaimed:

"Strict enforcement of existing laws!"

Millions cheered and replied with:

"Zero tolerance under Project Exile!

But the few solitary voices who dared to express concern over such mindlessness were trampled to death by the angry mob as they roared "It will only be used against criminals!"

Little did they know under the oppressive mountain of 30,000 laws, they who thought they were law abiding, where in fact criminals themselves.

Do you bake the potato first, or stuff a raw one on?  Do you clear a channel though the raw potato first?
