The kids are at the schools to play football and basketball. The education is FAR down the list for many of the “student athletes”. |

Little known fact: the cold war was decided by a dog fight. That's right, Reagan and Gorbachev agreed to wager the whole shootin match on a single contest. They went off to their respective dog experts and came back 2 years later with the pick of the litter. The Sov's showed up with a massive hound that had been bred from the finest stock, fed on pure hate and steroids, and trained daily to kill. It was a majestic sight. The Americans brought a short legged brown thing with patchy fur, it could barely drag itself across the arena. Everyone laughed at the pitiful showing The day of the fight came, they turned the dogs loose in the arena. The Sov dog charged in, the American dog snatched it up in its mouth and bit it in half. Game over. We won the cold war. Footnote to history: at the after-game party, the CIA project manager was overheard saying "Yeah, we just painted a crocodile brown and glued some fur on it" |

How about in football (American), players wear bulletproof vests and running backs carry a 9, and shoot the defense on the way to the end zone, like in the movie Last Boy Scout? /s
Sports aren't dying. |

Incorrect. GD and it's hate of sports does not represent the majority of the country. NFL viewership this past year was at it's highest since 2015. NBA playoffs are averaging 3.5MM viewers. NHL playoff viewership is up as well, averaging 2.62MM viewers. Baseball is the one pro sport that is struggling. Pro sports aren't going anywhere.

NFL revenue has been monotonically increasing for 20 years. EPL revenue is almost always positive, YOY for that period. Likewise MLB (until Covid, now mostly recovered). NHL? Nope, healthy and doing well.

We have football which is uniquely American and we've imported soccer from communists, who call it futbol. Naming is going to take some serious thought. |

View Quote Fair enough. You have to admit, though, the "my team" stuff is because of the general competition amongst the participants leading to fierce rivalries. In motorsports, there's just Ford and a few overseas go-kart builders, making it harder to manufacture brand identity in the auto industry. |

I dont know if hockey counts as a sport played with a ball, and as much as I hate Bettman, hockey has been doing well (lets see what happens in Utah).
As has been stated above betting probably will always keep it alive. I dont watch much sports outside of hockey, but hockey is filled with betting app commercials, odds, etc. |

I say go Gladiator like. For baseball expand the bases 30 feet. Allow aluminum bats, steroids, and smaller ball. For football add some kind of blunt weapons into the mix. Basketball move that hoop up two feet and allow checking. You get the idea.
