The guys you see in the red polos and blue hats are with the University Fire Services. We were there to keep open egress lanes. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much as Ole Miss, while liberal, is not Berkley or Columbia. The frat boys got there before the protesters and started the USA chant while the protesters walked into their 1st Amendment area. The sad looking girl in one of the pics was the instigator. Once a bottle of water was thrown at the frat boys it got sporty.
That's when UPD asked us to help clear the area. We had to hide the protesters in an adjacent building while a shuttle was called for them. Needless to say that I was proud of our students as like many of you, I thought our future was all but done. |
