I've eaten all of the menus, they're decent for their intended purpose. At $3.50 a day for 2,200 reasonable calories they're a deal. I toss a couple in a backpack when I'm going hiking. Having tried both, I prefer them to regular MREs honestly.

I like them. My wife actually likes them over regular MREs, so she ordered 4 cases last year. I think she will get tired of them halfway through the first case

Most of the entrees are concentrated and good with boiled water added.
Especially the "Rice W Veg" - put the entire pouch into a steel cup with water and boil it for a bit - take the pouch out, now boil a little bit of water with the red pepper packet - mix the warm contents of the pouch into the boiling pepper water |

I tried a few after I bought a few cases last year.
Definitely needed salt, and more than the one packet it comes with I didn't think they were that bad considering the price. That said I keep one in my desk in case i forget lunch or something. I've not brought myself to eat it yet |

I ordered two cases earlier this year, actually got four by mistake. The seller wasn't interested in a return, so woo hoo!
They're just OK. The entree is actually not bad if you add fresh peppers, but in an emergency bell peppers are low priority. |

I was thinking about adding some to my preps a year or so ago, asked a knowledgeable friend about them and he said they’re vegetarian/vegan because they were intended to not offend recipients of certain religions that require Kosher or Halal food. He said they tasted like crap and to continue with my Mountain House buckets for preps, I never tried the Humanitarian Rations myself but I took his advice. I’m still curious though, as I’ve found regular Military MREs that I’ve liked, and I like the idea of having snacks and condiments sealed in the same pack as entrees and sides. So I’m following to see your results.
|
|
|
They're fine. 3 "meals" in one, basically vegetarian entrees.

So you're going vegetarian, then.

These are the ones that weren’t good enough for a Palestinian. They were complaining about the free food we gave them.

Reminds me I could use some MRE’s for backpacking food.
Where I backpack I don’t have good access to water so rehydrated meals use up water I have to carry…water I would rather use for coffee. |

I have eaten thousands of MREs and I will go the rest of my life without eating another. So gross

i keep waiting for epidemic proof to get cold weather ration cases back in stock, though there's a guy out of alaska selling them fairly cheap on ebay right now

I was a coward and decided I couldn’t eat one today.
Will have to shoot for tomorrow. |

Oh, HDRs.
They're marginally better than starving to death. |
|
|
They finally did away with the yellow packaging. FNs were confusing cluster bomb munitions with MREs.
|
|
|
I ate a bunch of these during hurricane Ian. Also handed a ton out. They are pretty good for what they are.
|
|
|
Sopakco Low Sodium MRE's were terrible. I remember right when covid hit, you could get a case for $35 shipped. Still wasnt worth it imo.
|
|
|
I have several cases and eat them fairly regularly. I find them cost effective and palatable.

In for a case.
Might get some MREs for kids to try. What are the good menu entrees? I haven't had an MRE since surplus desert storm. |

They are vegetarian and dont constipate NEARLY as bad as MREs. The tender tummy brigade always cracks me up. Ewwwww lentils, peas, rice. They are a much better value being a 24hr ration for less money than an MRE. They dont have any FRH. I dont remember a spoon or much of an accessory pack. |

It seems like those additions can make anything taste great. And for the haters, these beat eating the cat or the dog. Or even the neighbors. |

They aren’t good but they beat the Hell out of going hungry. Just added 3 cases to the hurricane stockpile

Cut the mains open and take a taste the way they were intended to be eaten, with a brown plastic spoon right out of the pouch! The salt and crushed red pepper help with the blandness. I like the Peas in Tomato Sauce best (they're black-eyed peas, not green peas). Even if you hate the entrees, there's two largish cookies, Pop Tarts, and crackers with PB and J to fill up on. |

The oatmeal cookie tastes weird as hell after you eat a few.
They were palatable at first and now I just throw them away. Also, vegetable crackers with PB&J is a war crime. May fuck be upon whoever decided upon that. |

Aren't they kosher?
Been looking at trying a box. Just to keep on hand when we need a quick meal to bring boating and sharing. |

Those things kept me alive for a year in Iraq.
I was embedded as an advisor with an Iraqi Army unit. They made me eat what they did, which was horrible and unrecognizable, except for the bread. However, we had several pallets of humanitarian rations to give out, and they became my go to meal. |
