And in the end, the Trump look alike is pulled from under the Oval Office desk and executed. And this is released in a presidential election year. And the entire movie industry is rabidly anti-Trump. That’s indisputable. You are trying to be deceptive here, are an idiot, or doing mental gymnastics to justify your interest in this movie. Either way, something is rotten in the state of Denmark. If this movie has moved you to believe no civil war should ever be fought for any reason on US soil, does that include us waging wars in foreign countries? Or is killing people in places like Iraq and Afghanistan, who never hurt us, ok because it’s not here? You seem surprised at the “warfare” you watched in the movie yet there’s plenty of actual combat footage from the most recent 20 year war, as well as plenty from the Ukraine. Actual REAL combat footage. Lots of it. Are you honestly telling me you have never seen any of it? And if you have, Hollywood war is more real than actual real combat? Love him or hate him, I have no interest in seeing a snuff film about Donald Trump, which is what it is, and recommend nobody pay money to see it. “Trump lookalike.” https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/578900/IMG_5616_jpeg-3188567.JPG Yep totally. Saw it. Wasn't terrible, wasn't great either.
The final firefight as the WF pushes toward the White House was a let down. From reading other reviews I was banking on that last 30 minutes to be the hallmark of the film. It wasn't.... The one thing they did well was the sound of gunfire. |

The final scene where the president is dragged out from behind his desk scrabbling at the drawers and is murdered by a black female soldier after whining to not be killed was 100% lefty cathartic Trump death porn I thought it was okay. It was a more a war photographer film with "is it Trump" asa Hook, along with some big budget fight scenes. Except don't click on the spoiler. It was written to emphasize "war is yucky photo journalists are heroes" with lots of awful behavior ie killing unarmed people by nearly everyone. |

I saw it yesterday. I didn’t hate it.
It was mostly focused on the press people and especially the young photographer kid. I thought her character was kinda cool. Bonus points for the gunfire not being the typical hollywood full auto all the time Walking Dead type bullshit. |

View Quote I took away the opposite about journalists. Click To View Spoiler Several of them are in it for the adrenaline rush. They enthusiastically seek out fucked up events and run into them with no desire to help, only to stick a camera into the faces of dead and dying people. They can get other people killed because of their impulsive and opportunistic appetite.

Just got back from the theater. From the point they said the President "disbanded the FBI", I knew who he was intended to be to the filmmaker. The final scene even had him dressed in Trump's signature solid red tie.
Hero journalists. Evil white racists (fat damon). Heroic black female super soldier (lol). It had all the cues in place to be the self congratulatory leftist circle jerk fantasy that it actually is. POS. |

it's a stupid movie because its basic premise is dumb.
"In the event of a civil war this county would break apart on state lines". |

Glorified the press as some kind of heros for the truth in reporting and willing to sacrifice their lives to get it. Orange man bad at end with the red tie. When in fact it should've been a FJB look a like laying on the floor wearing a diaper acting, well like he always does asking for ice cream. It's the Democratic Socialist dictatorship that's actually trying to destroy America and become a one party Socialist rule. After seeing who they portrayed as POTUS. It tied all the bad guys in film as being MAGA people. Killing and murdering everyone that ventured into their domains. Also at beginning of movie they said Florida’s alliance failed. Would that be DeSantis failure. Not to mention Florida’s alliance according to map is pretty much MAGA states. One thing though that got me was Texas and California alliance. But all Army's attacking Washington had one goal and that was to see who could get to Washington first and kill POTUS (Trump wearing red tie) and man who disbanded the FBI. When truth be told it's the Democratic Socialist dictatorship who's actually openly called or insinuated a possible Civil War against the MAGA portion of the United States. Because we are all deplorable, degenerates, insufferable, traitors, threat to the Democracy of America, needs to be put into re-education camps and yes even killed, destroyed because we are evil like the guys at gas station killing looters and rose colored glasses guy who was just murdering people period. Like that phyco idoit Maxine Waters MAGA is in the mountains training to overthrow the Democratic Socialist dictatorship. Yes I know it's just a movie put out by the left-wing Democratic Socialist Hollywood crowd. But they better be careful for what they wish for. It might not go like they glamorize it with them being the Victor's. To even make a movie like this in today's political climate is stupid. Hell who knows maybe it's a motivational film for the Democratic Socialist party where they defeat MAGA and murder Trump. These people are truely insane Just my .02 cents worth. |

Wife and I saw it last night. I didn't think it was anything amazing. The wife was bummed it didn't have a better ending, more like Red Dawn or something along those lines. One thing that I couldn't wrap my head around in the movie was the younger female character. The whole time I'm looking at her like she's some 13-15 year old that ran away from home that wants to document the war and find the "truth" she's looking for. Or whatever. I didn't believe it when the guy said she was 23, I figured it was just some line of horseshit she said so they'd let her travel with them. Then the wife looked her up and she's 26 or something in real life? Am I the only one that felt like she played a much younger character than she really did?

There's a new cartoon I like where the voice actress of the main character sounds really young. Neither the character or the actress is under the age of 21 though. There's nothing that makes someone sound more like a kid than hearing them say, "I'm not a kid." |

It’s… probably not as bad as you think it is.

Finally saw it, I wish it was less about the photographers and more about what was going on and how it got there.

Civil War is a movie about war correspondents.
I liked it a lot, it has the influence of lots of other war correspondent films and many other influences, including Alex Garland's other films. The journalists gathered in the hotel lobby is standard war correspondent stuff, from recent Middle Eastern wars and also Central America in the 80s. Major influence from Salvador (1986) with James Woods and Under Fire (1983) with Nick Nolte/Gene Hackman which I rewatched recently. Beirut vibes at moments, and some strong Apocalypse Now influence. Some items Garland always uses, like the road trip setting, cities burning in the distance, crawling through the mass grave - those were all in 28 Days Later. There was more that's escaping me now. As the credits roll and the B/W shot develops you get the classic trophy pose, I thought that was a nice cap to the whole thing. |
