My wife used to own a Sportster 883XL. She is 5'4", 120 lbs. This Lowrider looks like it's seat height is a bit higher off the ground and certainly heavier than the 883 XL. And a lot more $$$. She has been talking about maybe getting a bike again. I wonder if this would be too intimidating for her...

HD only made one bike I like. The V-Rod. That was until I owned one (2009 Muscle) and absolutely hated the seating position. Sold it for the same I bought it for.
I'd give HD a chance again if they made the Bronx. |

So much so I needed to get used to the throttle for a few days to keep it from getting frisky when pulling out. I don’t know your wife’s skill level but I would not classify this as a beginner bike. However, it does handle very, very well for a heavy bike. Better at low speeds and probably at high speeds too than my BMW. Most aftermarket seats lower the seat height. I am actually looking at one that raises it a touch and moves me forward a tad, just to make it better ergonomically for riding. |

Maybe it’s been a while for me but that bike sure looks more like a road glide than a low rider.

I will also ditch the crazy air filter it has for something a little lower profile. The 117 is a great motor putting the useable power right where you most need it. Now let’s talk about my BMW GSA, which I am on today… 12 buttons on the handlebar and one of them is a magic wheel thingy that brings up more information than I could ever use. It is also a fantastic machine and can do a lot. But for pure road fun it is hands down the Lowrider ST. ETA: The Harley genuinely makes me want to just hit the road and ride through small towns, stop at little diners, ride Rt.66. Of course all my bikes do that...they just want me to take different routes. View Quote I put a shorter, 17", windshield on my Road King. When I started wearing my Shoei FF helmet on all of my bikes, the windshield height made less difference. I don't care for "rider aids", except ABS, because I won't use them. I always try to buy the Base model of anything and add a few accessories. I'll take a test ride on BMW's R1300 GS and check out the new R1200 nine T bikes. There is supposedly a more dirt worthy Urban GS in the works. |

And honestly its just not as big in any stretch. The hard bags pop off in literally 20 seconds. Fair warning though that in stock configuration there is no passenger pegs or seat. Its actually a very lean bike with few bells and whistles...for a big fat Harley. |

Pretty neat bike. I stay out of the dealerships for the most part and didn't know those were out either. I am tall so I own two tourers. These make sense for a lot of people. The full sized touring frame can be a handful around town.

I like that because you gain more control of the bike. The back rest I like in the down position, if I was out shredding canyons and mountains I'd put it up to lock me in more. |

FWIW, the Mustang solo seat that I bought for my Road King sat me farther up and forward about an inch. I called the factory to make sure it would do that before I bought it. I bought a detachable backrest with it. I prefer to sit ON a bike, not in it. |

I have a friend who has a Pan America, a KTM XCFW 350, a Husky 701 and a Breakout 117.
He's been saving his money for the 135 Crate Engine for the Breakout all winter long. He just pulled the trigger last week. 126.1 hp at 5,490 rpm and 141.2 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,700 rpm He's going to add some go fast goodies to it. |
Grab a fence post, hold it tight, womp your partner with all your might, hit him in the shin, hit him in the head, hit him again the critter ain't dead!

Only dislike was the smaller gas tank, why they didn't mount the 5 gallon just mystified me. |

HOLY SHIT, it was like Cinderella sliding on her slipper. I've never had a bike fit me as well as this one did. I walked into the sales managers office and laid it out simple. " I'm going to buy that ST sitting over their except in red, I have a 2016 Indian springfield that I want $7500 in trade" "well I'll have to see what we can do on it.... but I'm probably closer to $7k" "I want $7500 and I'll write you a check for the rest" "Are you serious or bullshitting me?" You can swap the stock for 5.5” risers and only have to replace the upper clutch, rotate the upper brake cable banjo and some wire management. |
