Strange not a California plate in sight.

But they're tricky that way.

That sounds like a great idea to me.

Someone made these for awhile until Shannon Watts got butthurt. Their lawyers apparently sent a cease and desist letter.

I was working one weekend and was doing a routine walk through of the parking lot. Two cars came off the interstate and stopped at the light atop the hill from the gas station. Suddenly, 8-10, maybe more, shots rang out into the air and the two cars banged a left and headed towards the projects on the other side of the interstate. I found myself standing in the middle of the parking lot with my 1911 in a low ready with the safety off, illuminated by the headlights of a mini-van with IL plates on it, with three old folks staring at me, mouths agape. I safed my pistol and holstered it, unable to tell you how it got into my hands. I simply could not remember actively drawing it. It just seemed to appear in my hands, safety deactivated, and in a low ready as I scanned for the threat.

Reminds me of one of the churches in downtown Nashville. They make a HUGE show out of helping the homeless in the area, but their entire exterior reeks of stale beer and piss. They dole out meals to the homeless right next to the no trespassing and "you cannot sleep here" signage they have up all over the building.

I dread any onsite visits to my downtown clients. My general rule is Mon-Fri, no problem; Wed/Thurs should be an emergency. Fri-Sun something should be shooting flames or in the act of murdering an employee before expecting me to make my way down there.
They are all right in the heart of Broadway.

Tennessee is 70% republican even with three liberal cities. We have a republican supermajority in the house and senate with a republican governor.

We are no where close to being like Georgia with Atlanta swallowing everything. Most if not all the other states will become democratic shitholes long before Tennessee.

It's funny that you believe this, because it's something the Left here says all of the time.  You could be right, but  our Governor was reelected with 65% in 2022 when he was elected with only 59% in 2018.

Time to catch up now. Sitting in my whitey tighties back at home.

Dude, my wife was MORTIFIED. Twin sister understood it. After the end, she thought about it for a few, and asked, well, if they do make my gun illegal, how are they planning to get it?

It started out when we left from the big hospital there. I thought it was like a Christian school letting out. LOTS of little kids, and parents. All dressed in red. Then I saw the signs. Then we sat there, stuck, so I asked. What do you mean, it's for the kids? Then they started talking.

THAT's what threw me off. There were very few, ah, 'typical protesters'. There were a lot of women that were appropriately wearing yoga pants and lululemon stuff. Very high end strollers. Guys did not look beta. I made eye contact with one, and I could just tell his wife drug him down there.

I have never been in a protest that large. I was thinking they were blocking roads, but it was just normal shit downtown traffic.

There were no hipsters. There were no blue haired people, or they were kept where cameras couldn't see them passing by. Those women didn't shop at Target, much less Walmart.

There were two dudes I saw with radios. I engaged one, and he didn't even stop what he was doing, which was telling people to link hands to stop gun violence.

It was completely around one building, then stretched both sides of the streets for at least three city blocks. TONS of small children. Almost 80% white, few black or hispanic.

They weren't mad. They didn't scream back at me. The ones I talked to parrotted the exact same things. I would talk to one on one block, we'd finally start moving again and I'd talk to another a few blocks down. Ban all semiautomatic firearms for the children. No one needs to shoot that fast or that many. The shooting was preventable if guns weren't available. Same letter-sized papers with the same series of writing on them.

I did not see how they got there. If it was bus in, I didn't see it.

Pretty sure it is legal there. There was a dude about ten years ago that stuck it in nashville's ass open carrying like an AK pistol or something... others will know better. I was not going to the hatch to retrieve mine. Oh - there was very little police presence. Like, maybe one foot patrol every mile or so. If this happened in Knoxville, there would have been 75-100 officers, no question.

Originally Posted By Paul:

Tons of out of state plates, but that is downtown where the hospital and some other school / uni type stuff is. (I get the joke though).

I was really taken aback by how many people they got together to parrot a stupid idea. That was enough votes to steer any small county election in my entire region. Few if any were on their phones, or joking or being rowdy.

I've been in dozens of demonstrations, especially around the university of tennessee. This thing was nothing like those. TOTALLY different energy. No one was yelling, or engaging. No singing, or mindless repetitive shouting. Just... standing. There was 0 media presence. No professional cameras. No drones that I could hear or see. They were shoulder to shoulder and people were having to walk around them. (shrugs)

I am sorry I didn't get any pictures. I thought being an opposing voice was enough...wait a minute. BRB

Edit- I checked the in-car camera. Turns out it was not working, so glad at least I've got that fixed.

Back in Florida, they showed up a few times in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. I’d try to make it a habit of wearing my “black rifles matter” t-shirt, not speak to anyone, and just walk around among them and taking photos of people with a proper camera. The discomfort among many was palpable.

When Nashville became the new "it" place, it got flooded with limousine liberals.  Flooded.  This all started a dozen years ago or so.

What you saw were affluent liberals (doctors' wives, kept men, former Cal/NY business owners, etc).  Their influence is strictly limited to Davidson County.

Nashville is still a fun place to visit if you want to party and throw down.  It's ridiculously expensive these days.

There have been local news stories lately about all the anti-abortion and anti-trans laws the state has passed running off liberals that used to live here, and discouraging liberal individuals and companies from moving here. News of course spins this as a bad thing because we are, of course, the American taliban.

I was really... I don't know. I was thinking how could they buy so many crisis actors for such a small incident.

Problem is, those types bring their money.

I keep rolling around in my head how you would counter protest, but there's no way. 'how could you be against protecting children'. None of the signs really talked what their actual goal was, and there was a TON of little kids present.

I don't think they have. I do know one or two quit talking when I asked, are you talking about the mentally ill girl that shot up the kids with a firearm she shouldn't have been able to get, or the officers that shot her with the same kind of firearm you want to ban?

Originally Posted By beebeebeebee:

Dude, come on. I've spent a ton of time in Knoxville on UT ball game days. People packed in all the streets to the point you can't drive. I've never seen an unbroken miles long group of people all standing quietly and holding hands before in TN. And, especially not for the sole purpose of banning all semiauto firearms.

IF you did not know any better, you might be led to think a lot of voters believed in gun control by looking at that event. Normal, everyday upper middle class white people with no axe to grind. Not even being ugly to the police that were there for the event.

Takeaways for the cheap seats:

1 - That is the kind of stuff we should be doing, but we never will.
2 - moms D went up a couple of notches in my threat book with reference to how many votes they can bring to bear and their ability to organize. How did all those people even know where to go stand? We would have had 900 people milling around at the parking garage and no one a block away.
3 - the lack of news coverage today suggests to me they are not as influential as they would believe themselves to be.
4 - I talked to some of the reps. Kinda got handwaved as to how big a deal that was to them. Kind of a meh, that's what they do here now, it's trendy, they're a tiny oil slick on the ocean of people for whom guns are a daily part of their life.

Dunno. I read on here all the time about these giant crowds taking over intersections and doing dirt. Finally thought I was in one, decided to go down swinging, and... it was a nothingburger. No one to run over. Polite discourse.

Here's the issue.
The covenant shooting involved people close to the governor, and some of the reps. That's how the extraordinary session got called.

I feel it dangerous and foolhardy to take a stance that it can never happen. Especially after I saw how many voters showed up down there. I also pull weeds when they are young, so maybe it is just my perspective that we give no inch to people coming here and trying to change the fundamental fabric of this region.
