Concur with In_the_Void. I like the '90s 4-Runners bettter than the new ones. Those ugly tail lights.

I'd go insane with a factory 350tbi with a shit box 700r4 behind it. There's a company that took new Ford Raptors and put 70's Ford pickup bodies on them. The interior had all the new amenities and sound deadening, the chassis, drivetrain, and suspension were all from the new truck. It took a bit of stretching and widening of the body to make it fit but it looked fantastic. I'd love a modern GM truck with mid-80's bodywork. |

While I agree with the OP on modern cars styling, he is wrong about the 90's being the best year for cars style. It was the 60's & 70's. Attached File

I've always thought those 1990s Chevy trucks were ugly. The 2000 is OK.
I don't mind the 1990 Ford F150 design. |

1990-2006 is peak styling and simple but effective engineering for all vehicles. Everything's gone to expensive and shit since.

The 900’s are not bad either both inside and out. They are just plagued by shitty AFM engines. |

Since trucks were the initial photos:
This is the reason most cars look the same these days: Hydroforming panels. The push for lighter cars and better fuel economy makes using lighter ga steel mandatory, light steel needs curves to enhance rigidity. |

I think the 80’s and the 90’s were peak aesthetic design.
Unfortunately it was a low point for interior quality and engine design. I do like a few new cars though. The Cadillac V series has always gotten my attention year after year. The RS Audis are pretty good looking too. |

View Quote The mid to late 80s engines weren’t too bad, at least not compared to the 70s. It’s really not fair to judge the engine technology of 30 or 40 years ago by today’s standards. In the automotive world as fast as things change even 10 years prior is a long time. But on interior quality, yeah 80s and 90s definitely wasn’t the best. |

The 900’s are not bad either both inside and out. They are just plagued by shitty AFM engines. No man. They’re plagued with electrical issues, broken handles, tie rods, wheel hubs, transmissions, axles. Didn’t they recall or deny warranty on 20” wheels even though they could be bought from GMs parts catalog? Those trucks were guaranteed something broke every month, might as well buy something under warranty and make payments. That generation had to be a new record for the thinnest sheet metal ever on a vehicle. Always a check engine light on for something. Owned 5 GM vehicles, and they all ate transmissions, 4l60, 4l80,6l90, 4t65 and whatever manual they used in the Grand Prix gt. My wife would probably leave me if I ever brought another one home. |
