They got her up and walked a few steps then sat in a chair. She wasn't up for long. They said her BP dropped a bit and were worried about her passing out. Said the BP drop with activity after surgery is common.

Don’t be surprised if she gets confused over the next few days. Best way to prevent that is to have family and close friends with her as much as possible. And keep her moving. She looks great.

Keep in mind that statistically, at her age she will suffer a second fall within 12 months of this broken hip. High possibility of a second fracture. Long term care and rapid decline are a distinct possibility.
I'm not trying to be mean either. My mom is 93, almost 94, and very frail. She just has good bone density. She's had many falls. So far, no broken bones. I hope your mom beats the odds. |

Keep her smiling, I am in the same boat with my mom. She is going on 87 years. This was a month ago in the hospital. I asked her to say cheese! Attached File We have since brought her home. She knows what is coming, and wants to be at home. Be there for her. My brother and I have been staying overnight for a month now. |

They will want her back on her feet right after the surgery. Make sure she knows how important it is for her to do that. She'll make a recovery. Prayers sent.

Again, thanks to everyone.
Final update. She has finished 12 days of the rehab facility and will be headed home today. She moves around quite well for a 90 year old that broke her hip just short of 3 weeks ago. Again, I thank all of you. |
