He seems like a nice guy. I'd call him pretty successful, tbh.

I hope he gets a bigger role or two, before he ages out of it. For nearly 80, he looks amazing..

He's in his 70's and apparently still has a net worth of ~$5M. He doesn't have to work, but God bless him if he wants to.

I'd be pretty pissed if that was me but in fairness he was the last known actor as far as I know.

And $5mm net worth certainly makes him more wealthy than I'll lever be and nobody is writing articles about my plight.

I've got a lot of respect for Ernie Hudson. I saw him at a comic convention a few years back and he was amazing to the fans that visited his booth.

@CarmelBytheSea

If an Actor is paid $10m for a film.

How much do they get Pre-tax after all expenses?

What are the expenses?   (Agent, etc?).

Their agent, lawyer, accountant and manager, typically 25 to 33% percent of the actor’s income then for publicists, maybe $150,000

Depending - about 50% {my Mom who wasn’t very financially savvy} to 2/3rds although there are tax write offs and some contracts might include covering some of this stuff.

It varies

If you’re A list Johnny Depp you could garner a nice chunk of change but then Nick Cage and Johnny Depp also have shitty Financial discipline

I’m not current and up to date post pandemic. I recall my Mom saying when all was said and done she kept 50%

I think taxes was one if a few reasons she embraced conservatives and later Trump despite starting out as a hippy.

Talking to her too long and she’ll go into wild anger about the city of Los Angeles government and California state shit.

I worked too infrequently and sporadically to use any of my experiences for your question.

IMDB link to Ernie Hudson

he has 255 credits and two more in preproduction.

Here's a guy who went to school with me back in the last century. Six years younger than Hudson. His Dad was the principal but he dropped out of school and went somewhere else for his education. He has been in the business since 1976 (same year Hudson started) with only 71 credits. Link

This is what I always remember him for. Warden Leo Glenn in OZ. He played a big role for almost all 6 seasons, I would have thought he made a decent amount off of that alone.

Going off my experiences with my Mom it’s a lot of expenses that chip away

Some of my Mom’s expenses were legit work related but a bunch was that she insisted kept her “networking” alive.

Motherfucker, you aren't Eddie Murphy. No one had ever heard of you before Ghostbusters.

He isn't rich because he's a dumbass.

Yes. And he took half this normal rate to be in the movie because he thought it would be a breakout role, only to get on set to find a completely different character than the one he read for.

That's half Ernie Hudson's normal rate, not Eddie's.

He kinda got screwed over, honestly.

But hes not A list, maybe C list, but the D list are jealous.

I wonder if this thread and the Lenny Kravitz thread will inspire some GD’ers to focus on their health and fitness a little more?

Both guys have obviously been putting in the work, and are in way better shape than 99.999% of the US population at ANY age, much less for a 60 and 78 year old.

Yup. Gives me the motivation to keep doing what I’m doing, and hope that I can maintain those kind of fitness levels at that age.
