It's supposed to be a job, not some sort of royal monarchy. And he's played some great roles, if he's in a movie, I'll definitely watch it. He does good work and people like him.

I remember when ghostbusters was finally released in widescreen, he said he was glad they did that so he could finally prove to people that he was in the movie.

I never noticed it before watching the cropped VHS/cable TV versions, but yeah, when they panned and scanned that movie he was the one that was always cropped from the scene.

Some parts last longer than others and if you get REALLY lucky you hit something out of the park occasionally and get big money and the notoriety that comes along with it that gets you other parts.

I don't even think that some of them are better actors. They just have a talent (or their agent does) for picking projects that are more suited to them so they preform better.

I could be wrong but acting seems like a pretty easy gig if you get a good part. Probably easy if it's a bad part too.

Exactly. Those 5 probably include 3 that are better than the so called “Stars” but have never gotten the chance. They might also have stage experience which I would think gives them more credibility but I don’t know. I’m not sure if people want actors anymore. Looks like most just want someone pretty to stand in front of the CGI screen and pose.

He was okay in that. Hudson's most inspiring work was as the ambulance driver in Remo Williams.

He's unique in the Ghostbusters franchise as being the only actor with 2 roles, as seen in the jail scene. 2:24 mark

I assumed his part in the original Ghostbusters was a token role.
His roll didn't seem needed, and his character didn't bring much to the movie.

Fluff piece for the new movie. I don’t trust those net worth sites as they are mostly just reporting news story figures and nothing else. Adam Carolla has mentioned his figure is close to the deals he’s made in the past with Comedy Central and his podcast but not figuring in warehouses he owns and rents, his stake in restaurants and so on. That seems low for the amount of work Ernie’s done. Even not top billing the tv work he does adds up.

I’ve always really liked him. He was amazing in The Crow and should have been up for bigger roles. It appears black does indeed not crack. 2 years from turning 80 and he might as well look like he’s in his mid forties.

It was a major role written for Eddie Murphy but they trimmed most of it when Eddie wasn't available for the movie.

I forgot Arsenio Hall voiced the cartoon.

Ernie Hudson was the best part of Congo.

I didn’t recognize his name, then again that is not my strong suit remembering names, bands, songs titles et cetera.

I recognized his picture right off, good solid character actor.   I like his work.  He makes me accept the story.....unlike guys like Nicholas Cage.   I don’t hate Cage but Cage is always just Cage like John Wayne.  John Wayne was always John Wayne with a different name and shirt.   Now take an Anthony Hopkins or a John Malkovich.  They make me believe they are somebody else.   I am not eloquent enough to state the difference.

“I’ve always had the responsibility of raising a family, which requires me to, you know, get this job,” he told the outlet. “If it’s dramatic, I gotta make somebody cry. If it’s funny, I had to make somebody laugh.”

I don't see it that way.  He said studios pay what they feel they have to.  Obviously Eddie would have demanded a higher payday and he's basically saying he knows he's not the same caliber as Eddie.

He obviously doesn't HAVE to work, but I think he enjoys it based at what I seen when I met him at The Crow booth at Comic con.
He could sell his property and move to the Mississippi Delta and live off savings probably cheaper than what he is doing now.
This way he stays in shape and a really has meaning, he himself said that he never gets tired when someone says, "hey, who you gonna call?"
