It's been 30 years since I touched oil paints. The last time I painted was with my grandma when I was a punk ass teenager. I've been really intimidated to try again since then, which means she really only taught me how to depend on her rather than how to paint (which was apparently her goal, as per my dad).

Anyway, this is my first solo oil painting. A bit of a personal victory in a manner of speaking. And now I have another cow for my wall, too.

Awesome. Only foray into oils that I’ve ever done was to try to imitate Bob Ross’s style. Which is actually pretty fun. I recommend it.

This is the lower start of my headache rack.  Most factory flat beds go straight up then tilt in to match the body contour of the truck

I'm thinking I need to angle the lower section in a little and keep it closer to the body.

Thoughts?

Alla prima. It is very fun. And it's messy if you're doing it right.

I think if you don't angle it in, you're gonna create a really sharp, hard point to bash your shoulder on every time you go to get in the truck. And you'll hate it. And you'll wish you had done it right the first time.
