It seems to be cyclical: hyphenated last names were popular 30-35 years ago and that seems to be coming around again.

I automatically ignore the thoughts of anyone with a hyphenated name that isn’t Hispanic. It is a sure sign of tardation.

I'm 58. Ive been on this planet for a while. I have a few - very few- general observations that seem to run true 99.85 % of the time.
The first one is this: Any woman with a hyphenated last time is a 100% straight up cunt. Every. Single. Time. See a hyphen in the last name? There's your first clue she's a leftist Maoist Communist Socialist everythingist bitch who is incensed youre contributing to global warming and that you need to stop eating meat because animal cruelty, and Clinton for President. And yet, she'll be a complete hypocrite..... A Hyphen is a clear indicator: I want it all, and I want it my way. I want to be married, but patriarchy. but but but.... Odds are very high I will be marrying my girlfriend in the next 12 months. I've got one rule. Its not negotiable. No. Fucking Hyphen. Period. She keeps her last name, she takes my, I dont care. Choose one. Literally do not give a shit. No fucking hyphen. Guys with the new hyphen added for equality and all that garbage? Yeah, thats not a man. Thats secretly a tranny who wears his GF's panties on Tranny Tuesdays.... I see a hyphen in that last name, and I AM gonna prejudge you. Youre sending a signal. Im receiving the signal you're sending. Your a fucking flake and a moron. Message received. |

I figured it was when a woman was from an important family and didn’t want to lose that clout. For example and those of you shitting on the idea, what about Sarah Huckabee Sanders?

I have no issue moving the maiden name to the middle name. It's pretty common. If a cop pulled over Jane Kennedy Jones in Massachusetts, and asks for her driver's license they'd know they are dealing with a daughter of the Kennedy family. She might call Daddy to get out of trouble instead of her husband, but she'll introduce herself as Mrs. Jones. I can't say exactly why one will be crazy every single time but Kennedy Jones is likely to have her head on straight, but Kennedy-Jones wants everyone to think she's important, and is likely to be a straight up bitch about it. |

A gay guy I worked with was hyphenated. I don't know if that makes him or the other guy the bitch in the relationship
My wife tricked me. When she changed her name she put her maiden name as her middle name. She only partially tricked me. She'd be saying all along her initials would be MRS after she got married and I just wasn't paying attention. |

For me a woman wiht a hyphenated last name screams "Look I'm a feminist that is also married".
My wife kept her maiden as it is pretty involved, changing all your official documents to a new name, although it was funny to be called Mr. Leverson by her co-workers (not my actual name but we had a twisted sense of humor). |

I like the Icelandic model. Take the father's first name and add "sson" or "dottir" at the end.

My wife had one of the most common last names in the entire western world and couldn't wait to get rid of it for something else
I'll never understand why someone would be like "yes my last name Jones or Johnson or Clark is so important I'd like to keep it in there" |

GF and I have talked about getting married. She still has her ex husband's name. She mentioned hyphenating it. I mentioned not getting married. Haven't heard a peep about is since.
I ain't taking another dude's name, and neither is she. If she wanted to go back to her maiden name instead of mine, I'd be fine with it. |

The type of man who would do that is the same type of bitch that calls their woman their partner.
I would have never married my wife if she wouldn't have taken my name, either. That tells you all you need to know about a woman who wouldn't or who would want a hyphenated last name. |

If a women refuses to take my last name when will be married, fuck her. I will dump her to the curb and find a women that wants to be a traditional wife.
